| Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." John 14:6 You cannot be saved by good works. Only by faith. It is by faith in God and in that Jesus saved you on the cross that you can be sure of your salvation and know you are going to heaven. If you want to become a Christian and to be sure of your salvation, to know you are going to heaven when you die, this is what you must believe and do: Firstly, you need to admit you are a sinner. "For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 Secondly, be willing to repent (to turn away from) your sins. "I tell you, unless you repent, you will likewise perish." Luke 13:5 Thirdly, you need to believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross, and then was buried, and then rose again from the dead. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved". Romans 10:9 And then finally, pray for your salvation, ask Jesus to be in your life and recieve the gift of salvation. "For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." Romans 10:10 "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him and he in me." Revelation 3:20 To pray, you can pray from your heart and confess the things mentioned above. Or you can follow this prayer. either way, it comes from the heart from one who believes. Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins, and that You were buried and rose again from the dead. I believe You are the Son of God. I'm sorry for all the things I've done that hurt You. I want to repent of all my sins and turn to You. I ask that You would forgive me, come into my life and be in control of it. I ask that You would cleanse me from the past and with the precious blood that was shed for me on the cross. I confess You now as my Lord and Saviour. I ask that You would fill me now with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You. In Jesus name I pray AMEN. If you have prayed this prayer, then I would like to take this opportunity now to congratulate you! Welcome to the world wide church family of Jesus Christ! Now what you need to do. Read your bible. This is how you will get to know God better, and it helps you to know what God wants you to do with your life. It's probably best to start with the Gospels, of Matthew Mark Luke or John. Pray! You build a relationship with Jesus by praying. Even Jesus prayed while He was on earth. It's probably best to start off with 15 minutes of praying every day but you can do it however you want to. You can even pray in the shower! He listens wherever you are. You need to be baptised in water and to fellowship with other Christians. The Church is made up of a body of believers, not just individuals. Find a good Church where you feel most comfortable. It needs to be one that preaches the Gospel, where the Bible has the final authority and where the Holy Spirit is free to minister. To be baptised is a public declaration of obedience to God and a symbol of your faith. Even Jesus was baptised! And He didnt need to be. And you need to tell others what God's done for you in your life. The Great Commission is to go into all the world, preaching the Gospel to all nations. And you can be part of that too. |
