Finding the right evening gown
for the right girl.

Not an easy task. Success is all we dream of.
Failure is not an option. A candidate's evening gown can either make or break her on Pageant Finals night.

DRESSING  UP
A QUEEN

Haute couture perhaps? Made in the Philippines? An all white number? Or simply go 'retro?'

VIBRANT IN VERSACE

From the glitzy house of excess, a gold dress! The original on
megamodel on the runway (below right) and on Katherine De Guzman, Miss Philippines World 2000 (above).

HAPPY IN HALSTON

The  somber  House of  Halston presents  a dark  brown  beaded number on  house  model (right) and  on  Katherine (above). The cut is right, the color not so bright.

MORE ON HALSTON
MIRIAM STARTED THE MARATHON

Miriam's light blue beaded Halston in Miss Universe '99 (below) may be the right  formula for all future Miss  Philippines. Two  Halston gowns  on their  models (left) fit Kathy's image perfectly!

A $10,000 evening gown for a $10,000 performance! Is it worth it? The price to pay to make it all the way !!!

Yes, couture gowns are very expensive, but quality does not come cheap! You get what you pay for. A good evening gown on the right girl will serve its purpose well. Miriam Quiambao has  proven that  with her light blue  beaded Halston in Miss Universe 1999. The gown that became the talk of the town!

PRETTY IN PEACH

A dainty peach number for Kathy.
All sweetness  and light in a deli-
cate  creation reminiscent of the  evening gowns popularized by the House of Chloe'. (right)

MADAM JUST
LIKE MIRIAM

Kathy  looking  very  much  like Miriam  Quiambao. Everything lifted  verbatim from  the hairstyle down to the cut of the gown itself. Imitation is the highest form of compliment! (center right)

LOVELY IN
LOW KEY

A simple gown for a simple gal! Low key and draws more atten- tion to the wearer than what she
is wearing. Simplicity at its best!

A  Thai princess  inspired gown straight from the streets of ancient Siam! A modern twist to Thai royalty! Beading on the chest reminiscent of  the royal sash. A breath-
taking creation that is as smooth as silk . . .

ROYAL IN RED

Scarlet, the color reserved for royalty in ancient times. Vibrant, striking  and  makes the  wearer very  much visible! An  attention  getter for the
woman who aspires to be the winner.

MISS PHILIPPINES BEYOND 2000
HIGHLY RECOMMENDS

. . . AS WHITE AS SNOW

PLAY IT RIGHT WITH WHITE

Who makes a mistake with  white? Unlike  other colors, white is the  safest  color to choose and it fits any kind  of skin  color, whether it be white, black, Latina or Asian! The Venezuelans have made it a tradition al-
ready in both the Miss Universe  and  Miss World  Pageants. Wendy Fitzwilliam wore white on the night she  was crowned and her dark skin color was in sharp contrast to her evening gown! Kathy, as a lot of pageant fans advise, should go for a white  number  to bet-
ter  play off  her natu-
ral  brown features.
You can always count on  snow white!

TAKE THE PLUNGE

Two examples of white ensembles, left, and above right, with a distinct plunging neckline and minimal beading.

WRAP IT UP

What better  way to add  drama and a bit of  excitement  to an
evening gown than with a wisp of chiffon gently draped over the  shoulder or the arms and swaying slightly with the breeze? (left)

The garment
in white,
Just the dress for tonite.

White as wool,
To the eyes so cool.

As pure as snow,
Will surely steal the show!

GO RETRO

With the  proven  success of  Renee Salud's creations for Filipina beauty queens, why not go retro and adopt the past?
History repeats itself anyway! To the right and at bottom left are reproductions of Chat Silayan's evening gown at Miss Universe 1980. Outdated  or still  relevant? Your choice!

MYSTICAL IN MUSLIM MOTIF

Desiree Verdadero's evening gown in Miss Universe 1984 was a runaway  hit. The Muslim  inspired 'quilt' gown was done remini-
scent  of the  vibrant colors prevalent in the Muslim  South. What even made it look bet- ter was Desiree's more-
na features. Katherine, in Desiree's gown (left)
with  her hair  pulled back is like looking at Desiree  herself! The resemblance is remark- able. However, critics say the gown, beautiful it  was 16  years ago, may again already be outdated today. Per-
haps Kathy can still wear it as a national costume?

KATHY IN EVENING GOWN,
WON'T LET YOU DOWN!

HIGH CLASS IN HALSTON

A simple 'column dress' by Halston on house mo-
del  below, and on  Katherine at  far right. What makes the evening gown so special is its element of surprise in the beaded lining underneath which reveals itself only  through the slit. As has always been  said, anything that  showcases Kathy's soft shoulders and swan like neck is a must!

KATHY
IN RED.
AS HAS ALREADY BEEN SAID, SHE IS THE MODEL AND LADY IN RED !!!

Kathy in a red 'day' gown at right. Simple and function-al but defi-nitely not for pageant night!
Coutesy calls, a big yes!!!
