Puppies and Dogs
Considering a puppy
I know puppies are very cute and mayb when u happen to walk by a pet shop you see one and want to buy but STOP.. think for a moment can you keep a puppy can you spare the next 15 years for it?do you have the space and resourses to keep one? do i have the time for it?

Well if your answer is yes to the above questions the CONGRADULATIONS you can become a dog owner.
Essential things to know before you bring the puppy home
1. The first and most important thing you must do before you bring you puppy home is dog proof or puppy proof  the house.. that means geting rid of anything that he'll or she'll be able to reach and chew.. puppies are like babies they move around looking for new things everything and anything they see will go into their mouth. To do this you have to get down on your hand and knees and see and the eye view of the puppy/dog. Look under and behind things, you dog is inquisitive hes going to find things that you never dreamed.

2. Next on the list is time.. you will need to spend time with your new puppy to teach it the most basic of tricks and obediance. this is very important and has t be done while the puppy is small so that it gets used to it. as itl be difficult to train it later once it learns somthing bad

3. now you can go about buying stuff like beds and crates and leashes and collars for the dog.so there is no problem of you runing around at the last minute buying things. You should also choose a good name for the dog that shouldnt be confusing and about 2 sylables.

4.So you are almost ready. lastly comes the food. Find out from the breeder what food was givn to the puppy as somtimes new puppies dont want to eat the food we provide them so there should be a gradual transition between the old food and the new. The feeding chart is given below:

Puppy: small portions of the food spread throughout the day. With an abundance supply of fresh water.

After about 5 months: The breed should be fed according to the size of the dog when adult.
Small : 1- 1.5 tin wet food 1 cup dry
Medium: 1.5-2 tins wet food 1 cup dry
Large : 2-2.5 tins wet food 2 cups dry
Water should always be available..

Once in a while you can feed you dog a treat of chicken...

Never feed you dogs scraps..As this can cause them to become over weight,   NEVER feed them chocolate..chocolate is poisonous to the dog and can weeken the heart... even though there will not be any immediate signs it could have disasterous affets in the long run...
Now you have brought you dog home first things first we have to train is the name and going "potty", and  that the inside of the house is not a potty area. This is especially Important if you live in a flat without a garden, to ensure that you dont have any accidents waiting for you when you come back from work.  From my personal experience i had no problem teaching my dog about the going for "walk walk" but then each dog is different and the approch that you take can make all the difference in a accident free home.

There are 2 methods that you can use to train you dog.

1. The carate method:
Well by the name itself i think you should be able to understand the method used here. This method the puppy is confined to a small crate so as itl hold rather than go in the house. you should find a crate thats the size of your dog but not large enought that it can move around well enought to go "pee" in the conor of the crate. But dont expect to leave the dog in there for a long period of time when its small. you should take the puppy out often when its young as its bladder will not hold for a long time. after your sure the dog
can hold you can start leting it out but have to keep it confined when you leave it alone for a long time.

2. The command method (leaving the dog to roam around freel
y)
This is the method i used to house break my puppy. For me it took about 2 weeks to get her fully house broken so no mistakes at home..is methods need you to have a lot of time on your habd and also that you be very observant of your dog. If you lack the time you can try the crate method. You will need to have a lot of patients as accidents are bound to happen. But the easier thing i would recommend is dont leave water for the puppy to drink at its will. oberse the body language of the dog. Il show you signs before it does anything. if you see it showing signs like smelling and walking around a specific area say a loud and strong NO then take it out to relieve itself and praise once it does it right.  Couple of times of this and the dog will understand that out is good. DONT EVER STIKE YOU DOG OR BEAT IT.
