"" ~ Marc Blucas
Birth Name: Marcus Paul Blucas
|
Biography:
Marc Blucas, was born and raised in the small town of Girard, Pennsylvania. His life-long dream was to be a basketball player he played all through high school, and played at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, though he didn't gain much attention there until his junior year. He ended up winning the Murray Greason Award, which honors the individual who's sacrificed the most to the team, and the Weaver-James-Corrigan scholarship, both in 1994. His big dream to become a professional basketball player in the NBA didnt come true and so Marc decided to go for two years to Europe playing as a Manchester Giant in Great Britian. He returned to the U.S., and founded his own company named " Sports Prism International" in 1996 ,to help and support athletes in endorsement and contract negotiation. He intended to enter Law School, but the night before his LSAT (Law School Admission Test) he watched A Few Good Men and realized that he didnt want to become a laywer, he wanted to be an actor. He started auditioning, and got a few bit parts in movies such as Eddie in which he played a basketball player and Pleasantville, turned into an important opportunity for Blucas, whose basketball knowledge was a useful commodity for the filmmakers. He ended up with a larger acting role, and also assisted the production by choreographing the film's basketball scenes.
Blucas returned to television with a supporting role in the NBCs miniseries "The 60s" and a guest part on the UPN comedy "Clueless". Eventually, he landed a Buffy audition, but never had thought that he would get the role because he had to play a scene which was full of intimicy. One day before he suffered a major back injury which made it impossible to play this scene good. He was totally shocked when Joss called him back for a second chance and he landed the job and then became a regular within half a season. Since that time we know him as the smart vampire slayer, Buffys new boyfriend, Riley Finn.
Blucas soon found that not all of the diehard fans were ready for him when he stumbled upon the inevitable anti-Riley Web sites. The actor took the barbs in stride, and his character soon developed his own loyal fan base. In 2000, Blucas banked on his popularity translating to the big screen when he co-starred with fellow teenage heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. and The WB cohort Jessica Biel in Mike Tollin's sports-themed romance "Summer Catch" (2001). Then in 2002, he co-starred in the Robert Harmon feature thriller, "They".
