| The United States of Equisetia This Realm is one of the few republics in the Point. It is �ruled� by a President who is elected as the President of the United States is. There are 38 states (named for states in the U.S., through Colorado) and several territories. In addition to the President, there is a governor for each state and territory as well as a bicameral legislature and a Supreme Court. There are very few mages on Equisetia, indeed most of the natives do not believe in magic. As a result, many people do not acknowledge any special powers, although a few are psychics or �mixed mages�. They also shun advanced technology, believing that it leads to laziness and sloth. They do however have some technology, which is only used for necessary things, like communication. There are, for example, telephones, radios for news and trains for long distance travel. There is no pattern to hair and eye color and Equisetia is one of the few realms where �Cygmans of color� reside. Also present in this realm are Indegenas and Hyspanias. Names can only be described as �Terran� and are of various origins. The most common religions are Protestant and Cygman Catholic. The realm is found in a temperate zone. That is, it has seasons. However, due to a warming current from the plane below, the southern part of the realm is milder than the northern part. The people dress much like the people of Earth did in the late 19th century (c. 1878). The symbol on the flag is a black stylized horse. It represents the horses that are commonly found on Equisetia, and the source of the realm�s name. There is a blue circle behind it, with red and white stripes behind that. These represent the similarities between Equisetia and the United States of America. |
