Hi Everyone,
Wow, what a month and some odd weeks we have had. May I say, hot, hot hot.... The Canton we live in, Vaud, broke heat temperatures of over 104 years!!! We have been living in 90 to 100+ degree temps with 80+% humidity for the month of June!! WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING!!!!! Apparently, it is not a Swiss thing, MORONS!!!! What are they thinking??????
The boys have just finished school on the 4th of July. We are glad to get them out of the Concentration Camp they were attending and hope to get them into the new school for the Fall. Where they can re-mold them into the nice polite little boys we brought over here. Well, at least they learned the very important lesson that there are different people and ways of doing things all over the World. Not to mention that Warren Walker is a WONDERFUL SCHOOL!! OK, we are bias, but the forced feeding, screaming profanities at the children, telling them how stupid they are and encouraging the older students to beat the crud out of the younger ones during playtime, was a bit over the top??? I don't know, can we say, GLAD TO BE LEAVING! And I'm not exaggerating, we got a letter from the Heads of the school stating when 4th graders got there faces planted into the pavement with the feet of the 8th and 9th graders they deserved it because the 4th graders were picking on the 8th and 9th graders first???!!!??? Let me say, our boys were not involved, but some friends' kids were and there was a lot of blood, and damage on the 4th graders. So, the school told us that the 4th graders deserved it because they were picking on the big kids. HMMMM???? What do you think, time to go????
So next year, we are hoping to get the boys into the "Harry Potter" school we wanted them into in the first place. They hate there present school so much that they don't even care that they have to wear a suit and tie to school. Everyone keep positive thoughts and prayers that they have spots for both of them. If not, I'm going to be home schooling Davis!
So, Besides the heat and the school we lovingly call "hell", what else is going on with the Swiss Gradys??? As some of you know we made a much too quick visit to San Diego for one of Peter's business trips. We only had a week and most of it was spent sorting out our house for the renters and shopping for stuff that we can't get in Switzerland. I came down with the flu, so all in all, it was too fast and we really didn't get to visit as much as we thought we would. We are considering another trip in the Winter, maybe just the boys and I. We'll see, the 12 hour flight is a bit of a deterrent.
We postponed our Monte Carlo trip, due to the fact that we returned from the US exhausted and sick. Peter and I are planning a trip there after our big holiday this Summer. We are leaving for Venice and Greece in a couple of weeks and we are all looking forward to laying around for 10 days. This is a big two weeks for us, Drake turns 11 years old, I turn 39 and Peter turns the BIG 40!!!!!!
The Montreux Jazz Festival started this weekend and it has been quite a party here since. What is really nice is that it starts just a little bit to the right of us on the lake. It is not right in front of us, like we originally thought it was going to be. This makes the music not quite as loud and the foot traffic a bit lighter. So, it has been very nice way to experience it. We had our first "Swiss Party". It was a huge success! Oddly, most of the people that came, about 40+ people, were Swiss. So the predominate language was French not English, LOL. The neighbors below us were the only English speaking people for the most part, others spoke English but not really well. So it was kind of an odd experience. But, everyone seemed to have a great time and it was really fun to break in the flat. The party went from about 2 pm to about 1am We all had a fun time!
We have updated our website with a lot of new and fun pictures. Please check out the pages to see the new pictures. Sign our guest-book and let us know you were there. We miss you all and hope our next visit to San Diego will be longer so we can get together. Please write us we would love to hear from all of you.
