The Written Works of
Heidi Charisse Miller
As I mentioned before, I am an avid writer.  Poetry, short stories, essays, novels... pretty much whatever I feel like writing.  I have a few samples below, but if you would like to see more, please visit my page at Fictionpress.com.  Enjoy!
I Am

I am the free-spirited Egyptian princess
Casting my reign over the sun-baked sand.
I am a magical, mystical sorceress
Spinning chants and spells across the land.

I can be the sun on your face,
And the pleasant breeze in your hair.
Or I can be dark, like the voice of the night,
Or a hideous monster in your nightmare.

I'm a leader, I'm a priestess,
I'm a poet, artist, saint and more.
Amazonian warrior, Bohemian goddess -
Each path leads to an open door.

I'm kind and caring, funny and sweet.
I'm full of surprise and mystery.
I'll take on the world with wonder and delight,
And I'm prepared to make history.

I can be the world and so much more,
Everything I dream, I can achieve.
Let my imagination take hold of my mind.
All I must do is believe.
You're Invited!

Dear Sir or Madame,

Are you tired? Overwhelmed? Suicidal? Perhaps even married to someone who bears a striking physical or mental resemblance to Henry VIII of England?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then say no more, because you are cordially invited to:

The 469th Annual Anne Boleyn Memorial Beheading Soiree

May 19th, 2005

At the Tower of London

Honored Guests include descendants of illegitimate children of Henry VIII

Join us for a bloody good time as we celebrate the injustice done to the woman who, rather rapidly, went from simple maid, to marchioness, to queen, and finally, to martyr.

As we are expecting a large audience, names will be drawn at random from raffle tickets. If your number is drawn, you will have the wonderful opportunity of having two large, muscular guards drag you, screaming, to the chopping block. Upon beheading, the heads of those chosen will then be placed on a pike (a sharp iron spike, not a fish) atop a wall, whereupon audience members will be free to throw random fruits and vegetables at it.

After the festivities, a potluck dinner will be served with complimentary cocktails. We ask that guests bring a dish to share with those attending.

Due to the cost for materials, there will be a five-dollar cover charge at the door for those planning to participate in the raffle. Spectators are free.

Many will play, few will win - and lose their heads!
California Dreams

So long ago was the day,
Years and years it seems,
Id run down the street to play with my friends,
Such was my wonderful dream.

Sunshine days and starry nights,
Palm trees and grass forever green.
And in summer rains, to my delight,
We danced in this dream.

Wed drive down to the beach some days
To cool our feet in the wide blue sea, The gleam
Of the ocean sun on the sand
Marked the nearing end of my glorious dream.

Into boxes we packed our things
And our memories, too.  I became aware
That this was the end of my blissful dream
And the beginning of a terrible nightmare.

Now theres not much here but the sun
That burns away the grass,
And lately I cant stand to wait
For winter wind and ice to pass.

No rain, no warmth, no sea of blue,
No golden sand with zephyr gleams,
My childhood memories lost in the wind --
Oh, how I miss my California dreams.
