Who is Relena’s True Love?

Relena looked at the papers on her desk.  She sighed.  She saw Zechs, just sitting in a chair enjoying every single minute of not working.  “You could help me!”

“I’m not the princess.”

"Yeah, but you’re my brother!”

“Don’t remind me.”

Relena walked over to her desk to sign all of the papers.

“Oh Princess,” started Zechs, “after you get done there is a wagon of more papers to sign just down the hall!”

“No more work for me today,” Relena said going down the hall.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m taking a break!”

Zechs went back to his chair and sat down thinking, ‘Why do I have to be the brother of this brat!’ He closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Heero walked down the street thinking about Relena.  He loved Relena, but never had the courage to say it or admit it.  He noticed Duo’s house and decided to stop by.  He knocked on the door.

Duo opened the door, “Heeeeellllllllllooooooooooo!  Heero?  Where in heck have you been?”

Heero looked at the silly American and said, “Could I come in?”

“Yeah sure!”

Heero stepped in.  “Where’s Hilde?”

“She got married to some punk.”

“How has the others been?”

“Doing fine, wondering where your butt has been.”

“Relena?”

“I don’t have no idea.”

Heero looked at the ground.

“Heero, I don’t like saying this.  It’s going to break your heart.”

Heero freaked out.  “Is Relena dead!?!”  Heero was scared to death that she was dead.

“No silly, she’s going out with someone.”

His eyes were on fire.  “TELL ME WHO THE PUNK WHO IS GOING WITH OUT WITH HER SO I CAN BREAK EVERY BONE IS HIS BODY!”  Heero didn’t realize he was lifting Duo in the air by the collar of his shirt.  He put him down again. “Please tell me.”

“Uhhhh…sure.  It’s some guy named Galdon.”

“What kind of name is that?”

“What kind of name is Heero?  Anyway, people call him Don.”

“Is he handsome?”

“Ummmmm….I think it’s a tie between you and him.”

Heero looked at the ground.  “Would you please help me win her back?  I’ll do anything.”

“Sure!  I’ll go call the guys!”

Relena walked down the street.  She sighed as she remembered that the old house to her left used to be Heero’s.  She remembered those dark blue eyes that she loved so much.

“Hi lovely,” someone called down the street.

She noticed it was Don and ran towards him.  “Hi Don!”

Don leaned over to kiss her as she put her arms around his neck, her lips meeting his.  Relena broke it off as soon as she thought of Heero.

“So how has my princess been doing?”

“Fine!”

“Do you want to go look at the stars tonight?”

“I’m having a party so I can’t.”

Don faced the ground.  “What for?”

“It’s my birthday today silly!”

“How could I forget!?!  Well see you tomorrow!”

“Bye.”

Quatre, Trowa, and Wufei sat in a tiny room.  Quatre looked at Trowa and said, “I challenge you to a thumb war!”  Right then the phone started ringing.  “I’ve got it!”  Quatre picked up the phone, “Hello you are speaking to Quatre Winner!”

“Hey, this is Duo!  We have an emergency!  Heero is BEGGING for us to help him win Relena’s heart back!”

“Wow, it must be serious!  What happened?”

“Relena is going out with someone else, and Heero was grabbing me by the collar of my shirt demanding me to tell him who!”

“We’ll get over there as soon as we can!”

“So who was it Quatre?”  Trowa stood up.

“It’s Heero Trowa, he needs our help!”

Wufei stood up.  “I’m sorry but I can’t help.”  Wufei walked out of the tiny room and out of the house and headed straight for Sally’s.

Duo opened the door.  “About time you guys got here!  Hey, where’s Wufei?”

“He had business to attend to,” said Trowa.

“Where’ s Heero,” asked Quatre.

“I’m right here.  Guys, I need your help.  Today is Relena’s birthday.  I need you guys to help me to get her to choose me over this new guy who she’s going out with….Don.”

“No problem Heero,” started Quatre, “Me, Duo and Trowa will be conducting the music.  Ask someone to take her to the balcony, ask her to dance with you and start putting the moves on her while we play a love song!  You have to get a Tuxedo that you look the best in, and a red rose, or a bundle.  Be very charming!”

That horrified Heero.  He didn’t know the first thing about how to be charming.  “I don’t know how to be charming.”

Duo said then, “Make her laugh, give her your sweetest smile, and make sure you through her off guard so you can sneak kisses!”

Heero gulped.  He knew being charming was hard enough but now this?

“I can’t do this,” cried Relena.

Hilde who was brushing her hair said, “I’m sure Don will be there.”

“I don’t think I like him.  A voice in my head tells me that this is not right when I’m near him!”

“You’re just under too much stress, I know, It’s Heero isn’t it?”

“Yes, I know one day he’ll return to me, but will he like me, will he kill me like he promised a long time ago?”

She knew that there was no chance of him killing her but she just wanted to add something.

“It’s time now.”  Relena got up and entered the door.  ‘they did all this for me,’ she thought.  She saw Don, but he was too busy talking to someone to notice her.

Quatre looked and saw her and whispered to Heero, “Get on to the balcony!” Quatre looked at Relena who sat down at the table, unnoticed.  He grabbed a man walking by and said to him, “There is someone waiting on the balcony for Relena!”  The man got the hint and told Relena.

“If Quatre is messing with me….”  She got up and went to the balcony.  She opened the glass doors and looked around.  “That Quatre!  I’m going back!”
As she turned she heard a familiar voice.  “No, I won’t allow it!”  She turned back around to see Heero, in a tuxedo holding a rose.

“Heero!”  She ran over to him, but stopped dead in her tracks remembering Don.

The expression in her eyes after she stopped scared Heero that he had lost to Don.

“Why did you ask for me?”

“I need you, I love you to much to give you up!”

Her eyes didn’t show a bit of change.  “If you would’ve showed up 1 month ago, I would accept you, but now it’s different!”

“I’m sorry for giving you up!”

“Sorry?  Sorry isn’t going to do it!”

Heero faced the ground and said, “No matter what you say I know you still love me!”

“I’ve wanted to do this so much!”  She stepped up to him and slapped him as hard as could.

 Heero’s face stung like heck.  “I know I deserved that, and I still love you too.”

“I don’t want to make a scene so leave!”  She turned back to walk in.

“NO!”  Heero grabbed her shoulders and turned her around.  He knew if he didn’t do something fast he would lose her forever.  The panic showed in his eyes.  He pulled her to him and he kissed her.  He held her very tight.

Relena, realizing that she loved him more than anything, even her father who was killed by Lady Une who had saved her from being killed when the Sanc Kingdom was destroyed (she was the princess and was about 3 years old at the time, and her older brother Zechs, or his real name Millardo Peacecraft escaped by himself).  She slipped her hands around his waist and held on to him.

After a good minute they finally broke off.  Heero smiled at her sweetly and handed her the rose.  “Care to dance with me?”  She took his hand as they re-entered the party room again.  The perfect solider melted away.

Quatre gave a sigh as soon as he saw them come through the door.  He looked and saw Wufei by the piano and had a copy of the music they were going to play.  He smiled and mouthed Thank You.  He gave them the single to start as Heero and Relena started dancing.

After the song Heero and Relena kissed each other again as Don came up to grab Relena.  Heero saw this and blocked him off.  “Relena’s mine hair ball!”

Don was angered by this comment and said, “Why would she want to go out with a guy like you when she already said that she wanted a future with me?”

Heero’s eyes caught on fire and stunned at Relena and all the sudden had an urgent feeling to kill them all.  The Perfect Solider was back in his heart.  His eyes got the cold, icy glare back again as he got out his gun.

“Say goodbye Don!”  He shot at him as he fell to the ground.  He turned to Relena, and almost shot but he couldn’t bring herself to shoot him.  Instead he ran out of there as fast as he could.  Don was dead.  Relena fell to her knees, tears coming out of her eyes.

Quatre came to her.  “Are you alright princess?”

She gave her last sob and said trying her best to smile, “Yeah.”

He helped her up as the other Gundam pilots faced the ground.

Heero ran to the old house.  He sat down on the bed as tears came out of his eyes.  Crying was something very new to him.  He looked at the mirror. He said, “I’m Heero Yuy, the Perfect Solider.  Relena is an obstacle, and I destroy all obstacles.”  He laid in his bed, thinking how stupid he has been, falling for a princess that could only be trouble.

He heard a knock at the door.  He went over to open it.

“Heero,” Quatre said kind of steamed about how Relena felt, “why did you make such a scene?”

“If I can’t have Relena nobody can.”

“They why did you point the gun at her?”

Heero faced the ground unable think.

“Don’t you even care about her feelings?”

“Does she care for mine?”  Quatre started glaring. “She said she thought she would never see you again, and that you probably found someone else that you might hate her!”

Heero faced the ground once more.  He didn’t know how to explain the reason why he acted so.

“Duo is in her room trying to comfort her.  He is probably the closest guy to her except you and I’m sure if she starts thinking that you have broken up with her, she’ll start dating him!  What would you do about that?”

Heero knew what he’d do, he’d kill him!  It was a fact that Duo likes Relena a whole lot.  The only thing that kept him from asking her out was that he knew he had the hots for her and he did have a hope Hilde would accept him.

Heero said as sweetly as he could, “Bring her here.”

Quatre, knowing that no one would be able to disturb them here obeyed.

Part 2
Who Gets Relena?

Relena who was sitting by Duo tried to hold her tears in because of what Duo might think.  “Duo, I thought Heero loved me.”

“I thought he loved you too.”  Duo reached out to her and held her close to him.  She allowed him knowing that he was her only comforter right now.

Quatre peaked through the door crack to see Duo holding Relena in his arms.  Quatre felt sorry for Duo because his best friend Hilde had married someone else, and the only other girl who had gotten along with him Relena, would soon be back in Heero’s arms.  Quatre walked slowly back to the old house.

“Well Quatre, where is she?”

“I can’t do it to Duo.  Duo has been searching for someone to share his whole life every since he was born, Hilde dumped him, and now he thinks he has finally found that someone.”

A flame caught in Heero’s eyes.  Heero was about to storm out of the house.

“Wait,” Quatre called after him.

“What!?!”

“If you love her, let her go.  If she loves you, she’ll come back to you.”

“Whats that supposed to mean!?!”

“Tell her that you still care for her, but show no emotions toward her untill you are sure she has learned her lesson, and if she doesn’t truly love you, now you’ll know.”

Heero could not bear the thought of Duo having her.

“I’ll tell her.”  Quatre walked on back out to tell her that Heero still cared for her.

Relena, who was the way Duo was acting, said to him, “Duo, I wish Heero was as gentle as you.”

Duo heard a knock at the door and was very irritated that his moment with Relena was now destroyed.  “I’ll get it for you,” Duo said sweetly.

“Hello?  Hi Quatre!”

“I need to speak with Relena for a sec.”

“Sure thing dude.”

Quatre walked over to Relena, whispered what he needed to and got out of the room.  Relena was angry.  ‘If he still cares for me, why didn’t he say so himself!?!’

She walked over to Duo, which he held her.  “Duo?”

“Yes?”

“I’d like to be alone now.”

“Of course.”

Heero woke up the next morning.  He missed Relena too much.  Being away from was killing him every second as he knew Duo was trying to win her over.  He walked back over to the mirror.  He wondered why, no matter how much he tried he couldn’t ignore her.

Duo happily opened Relena’s bedroom door.  “Wake up lovely!”  He shut the door thinking of all the ways he could win her heart over that day.  Duo happily sighed as an image of her appeared in his head.

Relena got dressed in her normal clothes, did her hair the same way she always did.  She went down the stairs to see a happy Duo waiting for her.

“You get prettier every day I see you!”

“Thank you.”  She walked towards him as he reached out for her and enveloped her in his arms.  He gave her such a sweet little smile that it got her off guard.  Duo saw his chance and kissed her lightly.

She realized what was happening and broke off very slowly, but enjoying every minute they were in each others arms.  She finally broke away from him.  Heero’s eyes pierced her heart as she remembered him.

She grabbed a blue coat because it was cold that day.

“Where are you going?”  Duo asked.

“I’m going to go see Heero.”

“Let me come with you!” He grabbed his coat and went with her.

Heero heard a knock at the door.  “Come in.”

Relena walked in and Duo too.

“Relena!”  He walked up to her and held her in his arms, but remembering what Quatre said, let go of her and welcomed her to sit down on the couch.

Duo, not wanting Heero to still Relena sat by her and put an arm around her.  “So this is where you were hiding out.  Me and Relena were worried sick about ya!”

Some hours went by and finally Duo said, “Well nice seeing you but me and Relly has gotta go!”

Relena and Heero both thought ‘Relly?’  Relena went up to Heero and hugged him.  “Bye Heero.”  She was about to kiss him but Heero pretended not to notice and told her she should get going.

Duo and Relena left.  “Duo, we better go faster, it’s about to rain.”

It starting raining just as soon as she said that.  “Too late.”

“Run for it!” She grabbed his hand and ran.

Duo noticed a shed and took the lead.  “We’ll wait right here untill the rain ends.”

Relena’s coat wasn’t really a great one, and it hardly kept her warm as Duo noticed.  “Here, have mine.”  He put it around her shoulders but never removed his arms, and held her close to him.

She finally gave in and let him hold her close as she rested her head on his chest.  Lighting striked and made her jump back.  Duo felt the place on his chest where she had laid her head.  He grabbed and held on to her tighter and kissed her gently.

Relena, knowing where this could lead to noticed a taxi and said, jumping out of Duo’s embrace, “HEY TAXI!”

The taxi stopped and allowed them to get on.  Relena’s heart was in deep pain.  The memory of Heero was too great.

“Driver, turn the taxi around.”

“Okay miss.”

Duo knowing that he had lost the battle said nothing.

Heero sat down on the couch.  He heard a knock, suspecting it to be Quatre he said, “Come in.”

Relena walked in towards the living room.  “Heero!”

Heero looked up at her surprised to she her as she grabbed him.  “Relena?”

“I love so much Heero, I’m sorry for thinking that Duo would ever be as good as you!”

That was what Heero had been waiting for Decades it seem to him for her to say that.  He enveloped her in his arms and said, “I’ve been waiting so long to hear that from you!”  He kissed her.
