"How bout it?"

"I don't think so, Bit."

"Please?"

"Nah."

"Pretty please? Like, a thousand times, and then another?"

He chuckled. "No. It's not my scene."

They had been arguing about Spike accompanying Dawn to a friend's party for the last quarter of an hour. She had already used the "If I don't attend it, on Monday everyone will be talking about it and I'll be an outcast, forced to eat lunch with the nerds, scarring me for life and I'll end up explaining the situation and examining paint blots to a shrink by the time I'm thirty!" That hadn't worked. Then came the, "If you're really my friend you would, Xander would if he didn't have plans!" But the fact Xander would hadn't sparked off the competitive side of Spike, like she'd hoped. Now came the last resort:

Begging.

She slumped in his chair. "Go onplease? For me?"

"Oh, no, no, no, don't use that one on me." He held his hands up in front of him in protest.

Dawn smiled as sweetly as possible. "C'mon, I promise if you don't have fun we'll leave!"

Spike considered this; Dawn noticed the falter on his set face.

She figured she could use that, so she got up and did her best puppy dog eyes, "As a favour? Please, Spike?"

Spike looked at her, her blue eyes wide and looking needy, he knew that was her look that she used when she really wanted something.

"Alright, fine." He surrendered. "But if I get in there and it's just a bunch of hormone bombs and bloody school kids, we're leaving, even if I have to drag you out!" He folded his arms and sat down in the chair Dawn had got up from.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Dawn squealed, smiling happily at him. "I'll come by about 9 tomorrow, Ok?"

"Whatever you want." Spike said, turning the TV on via the remote.

"Cool. You're the best!" She bounded excitedly out of the crypt, banging the door behind her.

Spike sighed, "Sodding puppy dog eyes."

The next night, at 9pm, Dawn burst into Spike's crypt wearing black leather trousers and a burgundy halter top, her hair was curled on the ends and she had a black jacket thrown over her arm.

"Hey Spike." She greeted. The vampire was engrossed in a rerun of Passions but looked up as she spoke.

"You're not wearing that, are you?" He gaped at Dawn, she looked older in that outfit, and Spike was not unaware of how hot she looked in it either.

"What's wrong with it?" She frowned, suddenly looking very self-conscious.

"Nothing. Just bit bloody over the top, init?" He shifted his weight in the chair, not use to seeing Dawn looking so grown up.

Dawn rolled her eyes at him, "No, its not. It's a party, Spike, people dress like this at parties."

"Really?" He got up, avoiding her face, while trying not to let his eyes wonder over her body, which he was fast realising had changed a lot in the last couple of years, and in all the right ways. He grabbed his leather coat and quickly put it on.

"I guess we should be going." Dawn said, heading towards the door, she was unaware that brushed ever so slightly into Spike as she past, Spike noticed but tried to ignore it as he sniffed and said, "Yeah, lets get this over with."

Dawn flashed him a grin over her shoulder, "Y'know, Spike, you might actually have fun. Remember that, fun?" She teased.

Spike pretended to be thinking, "Sounds oddly familiar."

Dawn laughed and they left the crypt.

When they reached the party Dawn whispered to Spike, "Do I look Ok?"

"Yeah, you look good, Platelet." He assured her. She smiled gratefully, as they surveyed their surroundings. Music was playing loudly; people were dotted around the place, dancing and talking, some kissing.

"This should be a barrel of laughs." Spike muttered sarcastically under his no-breath.

"I can hear you." Dawn informed him with a smirk.

"Good for you." Spike shrugged.

"Well, Mr Life And Soul of the party, do you want a beer?" She asked.

"Yeah, a beer would be proper. And I don't have either."

"Huh?"

"A life or a soul, so I don't know what you sodding expect."

"I guess you're right. But you could try?" She offered, handing him a beer. He swigged it, "After a few more of these, I will." He grinned. Dawn shook her head and laughed.

Spike wasn't lying. After a couple of hours at the party, he had put away quite a few beers, and all the girls in Dawn's class were asking him to dance, which he did with some of them. Dawn watched, a mixture of being amused, and being jealous, as he moved with the other girls. Her crush on Spike wasn't exactly new to her, she had felt it since she was 14, now she was 16, but she had learned to ignore it, and try not to let it show. But seeing girls all over Spike made her angry, but she knew there was nothing she could do so she just watched, keeping her eyes on him instead of any of the bimbos he danced with.

She was sat on the stairs, sipping a can of beer when someone plonked down next to her, it was a guy she knew in her yearMarksomebody.

"Hi." He smiled.

"Hey." She said.

"Dawn right? You look great tonight."

"Thanks." She smiled at him, he settled down next to her, and they began talking, Dawn kept it going so that she almost forgot about Spike. Almost.

"Hey!! C'mon, guys!! Into the living room, who's for truth or dare?!" A drunken voice yelled, people cheered in response and made their way to the living room. Mark pulled Dawn up and draped an arm over her shoulder as they moved to the living room. Spike was there, leaning casually against the wall, a herd of females around him. As he saw Dawn walk in he smiled at her, she returned it and sat down in the circle someone was trying to form.

"Truth or dare??" Someone asked incredulously, "How old are we??"

"C'mon, it'll be a blast!" People argued.

So the rest of the people all sat round in a tight circle. Mark still had his arm round Dawn's shoulder, Spike had noticed this and was ignoring the blonde that was nattering away about something to keep an eye on him.

"You want another beer or anything?" Mark asked Dawn.

"Nah, I'm good." She told him. She was just on her second; she was only occasionally sipping it.

"Who wants to go first?"

"I will!" A voice volunteered. "Ok, John, Truth or Dare?" A red headed girl asked a boy.

"UhTruth." He said uneasily.

"That's so lame." Grumbled the redhead. "So, was it true that when you got arrested it was for joy riding?" She asked, everyone's eyes fell on John, and he sighed,

"No, it was cos I stole a candy bar." He said quietly, ashamed. Everyone laughed at him; a couple of guys smacked him on the back as others pointed.

Spike shuffled over and sat next to Dawn, the blonde quickly followed. "This is a lot of fun, Pet." He said sarcastically.

"Yeah." She agreed. "Then again you don't seem to be having an awful time." She grinned.

Spike smirked a little, "Maybe not awful."

They played Truth or Dare a while longer, revealing secrets, making people drink shots of alcohol, or do other embarrassing things, until it came to the blonde girls turn.

"UhSpike, is it?" She swooned at the British vampire.

"Yeah." Spike said, this girl was starting to get on his nerves, he was trying to keep an eye on Dawn and the kid she was with, but this Harmony-esque person kept yammering on.

"Ok, truth or dare?"

"Dare."

"You have to take the prettiest girl here anduh, be locked in a closet with her for five minutes!" She giggled. Others laughed and cheered. The girl batted her eyelashes at Spike, obviously waiting for him to pick her. Spike grinned at her, Dawn knew that grin, it made every girl he flashed it to melt, including this one. She blushed and started to get up, Spike quickly grabbed Dawn's hand, Dawn looked at him in surprise,

"Gotta help me out here, luv." He told her, Dawn nodded with understanding and got up, Spike began leading her out the room, others followed until they reached a closet door.

Mark pushed to the front, not looking pleased. Spike relished that look as he pulled Dawn inside with him, the crowd were cheering as the door closed. Once the door clicked shut they were plunged into darkness.

"Your mates are weird." Spike chuckled.

"Yeah, I know. You're one of them." Dawn teased.

"Yeah, but I ain't like them, I'm a vampire, takes a little bit of weirdness."

"I guess it does." Dawn said thoughtfully. Then added, "Doesn't this place have lights??"

"Maybe, somewhere. Why? You afraid, Nibblet?" Even in the pitch black she could sense his smirk.

"No, course I'm not." She lightly hit him, not sure if she hit his arm or chest.

"I can see you perfectly." Spike informed her. "Aren't you even a little scared? Of bugs or something in the dark?" He taunted, then stealthily moved behind her and ran his finger down her spine. She screamed in surprise.

"Quit it, Spike!" She shivered.

"What? I ain't doing anything!" He protested innocently.

"Very funny. Just stop it."

Spike lightly ran his fingertips through her hair, she squirmed again, "Spike!"

"I aint doing it!" He convincingly argued.

"Ok, Spike, if it is you, just stop it, its really not funny anymore."

Spike grinned in the darkness, reaching a hand behind Dawn and tickling the back of her neck, letting only the ends of his fingers graze her skin, and retracting his hand quickly before she had time to react. She jumped forward as she felt something on her neck, knocking into Spike. Spike grunted as she bumped into him.

"I felt something horrible then, will you just quit it?" She pleaded, not so sure it was Spike this time.

Spike, sounding annoyed, said, "Look, Little bit, its not me, I'm right in front of you, see?" He put his hands on her shoulders.

"Then what's in here?" She asked.

"I dunno. A spider, maybe." He suggested, trying to keep a straight face even though she couldn't see him. He felt Dawns arms go round his waist.

"Ok, I'm not afraid of the dark, but I hate bugs," She said timidly. He could feel her body pressed against his in the dark, he could see her, maybe not as perfectly as he'd said, but he could, due to the vampire thing, see that her head was moving from side to side, up and down to see if she could spot a spider.

Suddenly Dawn let out a little scream again, hugging Spike for dear life, that time Spike knew it wasn't him.

"What?" He asked, his arms automatically going round her in comfort.

"I felt something on my head." She insisted. Spike right hand left her body and he swiped it a couple times in the air, then he found it, a light switch was dangling down. He pulled it and a dull light filled the room. Dawn blinked, her eyes adjusting to the new light.

She looked up at Spike, her arms still round him, and smiled, embarrassed, "Ok, so maybe that wasn't a spider. But I definitely felt something before."

"I believe you." He nodded, knowing it was him the first few times. She didn't let go of him. He never attempted to move away from her.

Spike tried to ignore how good it felt to have her in his arms, her petite body was so close, smelling so good and warm.

Dawn stood in Spike's embrace, it felt so right to her, to be like this, here, at that point she wouldn't have minded a spider on her if she could hold onto Spike because of it. Her head was rested on his solid chest; his black t-shirt was touching her face while his leather duster tickled her hips at her side. His strong arms were firmly but gently around her.

"Spike?" She said, interrupting the silence.

"Hmm?"

"Why did you pick me? Was Katrina really that bad to be around?" She smirked.

"Nah, she reminded me of Harmony, but she weren't that bad." He said. "But she said the prettiest. I was only doing a dare, and you were the prettiest at the party."

Dawn looked up at him, his face didn't seem to be hiding anything, "Really? That's why you picked me?"

"Yep." He glanced down at her, "You were the best out of all of em." He told her, Dawn smiled at him.

"Thank you."

"No problem, Sweetness." He grinned. Then he did something that surprised them both, he kissed her cheek. It was instinct or something, automatic, it just happened. Dawn looked as shocked as he did, her blue eyes twinkling. She then kissed his cheek back, the corner of her mouth, however, slightly touched the corner of Spike's and he moved his face to the side so their lips were firmly placed together. They pulled away, again looking surprised, but in the time it took to blink they were kissing again, both mouths exploring the others.

//Ok, I was so not expecting this! OMG! Spike is kissing meoh god, he's holding mehe's hands are on my body while we're locked in a closet togetherOh, that's his tongue, gently opening my mouth// All thoughts left the 16 year old as they deepened the kiss, massaging each others tongues with their own.

Spike couldn't believe what he was doingbut there was not a chance in hell he was going to stop yet. They continued to kiss //She's a damn good kisser for such a young 'un// The random thought entered his brain. His hands were on her waist, pulling her body closer to his, pressing his own against hers in a desperate attempt to be nearer to each other, they moved from her waist to her bare stomach, feeling her smooth pale skin, before they moved to her back and up her back, under the small fabric of her halter top

Suddenly the room was filled with bright light, the faint music started blaring again, both jumped apart from each other as though electrocuted. Everyone from the party was peering in to the closet, all eager to see what was going on.

Dawn straightened her top, ran her fingers through her hair while blotting her lipstick, and walked out the door. Followed by Spike, who's blonde hair stuck up a little, and he walked out as though nothing had happened.

Everyone cheered as they walked out, clearly their innocent acts weren't fooling anyone. Dawn walked to the refreshment table and got herself a beer, smiling and passing one to Spike as he approached. He smirked as he took it off her and swigged it.

"Bloody good party, eh, luv?" He said as he lowered the cup.

"Didn't suck." Dawn agreed as Spike gently took her hand, and she sipped her own beer.
