| Dancing Part 1 by Kass Shakespeare Dawn left the dance club through the backdoor short before midnight. Her feet hurt like hell from training all day. Dawn? She heard Jim behind her and turned around to face him. Yes? You were great tonight, he said, smiling. Thanks, you were great too. She smiled back at him. I think we might have a chance. Jim stood in the door and looked at his dance partner. We might, she said and walked away, waving over her shoulder. The two of them have been training very hard in the past time. They were good, very good and they could win the dance contest in three weeks. Dawn didnt want to become a professional dancer. She planned on finishing college and getting a good job, but dancing was her biggest passion. She discovered this when she started to go to dancing classes at the age of sixteen. Her teacher had told her that she was very talented and so she started taking extra lessons. One of the boys from her dancing school used to go to this dance club where mostly Latinos danced Salsa, Rumba, Tango and other Latin-American dances. The first time he took her there, she was fascinated by this way of dancing. She still had the picture in her mind like it was yesterday: They watched a couple dancing on that evening. The girl was a dark-haired Puerto Rican beauty. The way she moved her body was the most exiting thing Dawn had ever seen. She wanted to be like this woman, dance like her. She wanted every man to adore her. Today, about three years later she had achieved this ability. She continued to walk home through this dark alley. When she turned around the corner she suddenly ran into a man who was coming from the other side. Oh, Im sorry, she apologized while he mumbled something angrily. Then their eyes met and she looked right into his beautiful blue ones. Spike? she half stated, half asked. Hello Cutie! he said, hiding how surprised he was to see her. Spike! Dawn instinctively caught him in a warm welcome hug like she would hug an old friend. She blushed a little as she let go off him and was happy for the darkness. But the vampire immediately noticed it and laughed. How have you been? he asked friendly. Oh, I am great. You? Fine luv, thanks for askin He couldnt help but looking her up at down. What? she asked when she noticed it. Oh nothing, its justYou are a real young lady now, not the kid you were when I last saw you. Oh, she smiled. Well, I got older, in spite of you. You didnt change a bit. He still had had peroxide blond hair and wore his old leather duster. Vampire, remember? I dont get older. She nodded. So what are you doing back here? Spike put his hands in the pockets of his jeans. Been around the whole world in the past five years. I felt like going home. Isnt England supposed to be your home? Nah, its where I come from, but its not my home anymore, not for a long time. He stated. Spike looked at her again. He couldnt believe it. Last time he saw her she had been a kid. A little girl. And now she was a beautiful young woman. She also was taller than before. With her high-heeled dancing shoes she was as tall as him. And how long are you here already? Only arrived last night. He answered. Whats up with the Slayer and the Scoobies anyways? he wanted to know. Oh, there is a lot to tell, I dont know where to start. Lets walk a bit and I tell you everything, she suggested. Okay. Still living at your old house? Dawn nodded as they slowly walked down the street. Good. I will walk you home and you fill me in. Okay, I will start with Buffy. Spike listened. You maybe dont like to hear that, but she is back with Angel. Dawn told him and saw his surprised look. What happened? he asked. Wait, let me guess. Red and the other witch found something to manipulate the curse? Exactly, you are smart. She smiled at him. Always am. Well, Willow and Tara cursed him again and left out the Moment of true happiness clause. Now they can boink again. Boink? Spike chuckled. Dawn had always used funny words. I mean they can have sex now, she explained. Oh, I did get you. I just thought the word was quite funny. What happened to the two witches anyway? Are they still shag-mates? And you say my words are funny? she raised an eyebrow at him and smirked. Well, yes, Willow and Tara are still a couple. And what about Xander and Demongirl? Anya is pregnant with their second child now. They married two years ago, Dawn said. Wow, that is quite a change for an ex-vengeance demon. Yes it is. She leads a total normal life now. What happened to the watcher? Spike asked. He still lives in that apartment. Dawn looked at Spike, while they were walking. It felt good to see him again. During the time when she was the key he had been very nice to her. And he saved her life for which she would always thank him. And you? I guess all the boys in school are courting you. I bet you have a boyfriend. Dawn shook her head. No, I dont have a boyfriend. No? One surprise after the other. No, she answered. Now tell me about you. Why did you leave at all? I never understood it. Spike signed slightly. It was just this whole me-being-in-love-with-the-Slayer-thing. I needed to be somewhere else, get her out of my system. And? Been successful? Dawn feared he could still be in love with her sister. That would be no good now that she was happily together with Angel. Oh yeah, I am over the whole affair. He didnt lie. That is good to hear, Dawn smiled as they were only a few yards from her house. Oh, there it is already, Spike noticed. He recognized the house immediately. He had spent more than enough time in front of it each night when he used to stalk Buffy. Yep, Dawn said. I will go in and ask Buffy and Angel if they mind you to come in. No, I will just go to my place. We can talk later. Oh, Dawn pouted a little. What is your place? One of those dirty crypts on the cemetery again? You would be surprised, he said. I rented a motel room. Since when do you have enough money to pay a room? Thats a long story. I will tell you next time. Okay, I will tell Buffy and the others that you are here again, she said. If you want to visit us I know where to find you, he finished her sentence. Okay, she walked backwards to the porch of her house. It was nice seeing you again. Twas nice seeing you, too, he said and walked away. Dawn smiled again and entered the house. Hey Dawnie, Buffy greeted from the living room when she saw her sister coming home. Hey Buffy, you wont believe me who I just met. |
