Spike. Everything was about Spike. Who cares if her sister doesn't like
him? Who cares if her deceased mother wouldn't approve? Who cares if he
was 121 years older then her? She couldn't care. She loved him too much.
Not that she could ever tell him that. He wasn't interested. That much
was clear. He was in love with her sister. Everyone is in love with her
sister. The Slayer, the Chosen One, Buffy Anne Summers. Damn the slayer.

She couldn't blame him for loving her though. She was everything that
she wasn't. She was short and blonde, powerful and cunning, matured and
available. Well okay, she was available too, but obviously Spike didn't
notice. She didn't expect him to.  After all, she was only a blob of
energy, what was she supposed to do about that. Big blobs of energy
shaped like girls, that are technically older then the earth, don't get
dates very often. She'd never had a date in fact.

She would die a virgin. She would die unloved. She would die without
going to college and getting that degree to become an author that she
wanted so much. She would die without being loved by Spike.

"Pet?" She was only slightly aware of someone calling out to her, lost
in her train of thought. Wallowing in her self-pity. It was an awful
place to be right now.

"Nibblet?" She felt something cold cover her shoulder and instinctively
jerked her head around only to fall into the eyes of the one, the only
Spike. William the Bloody, Childe to Angelus the Scourge of Europe.
Ahh.Spike.

"Hmm?" She replied softly, still spiraling downwards in his icy gaze.
Those blue eyes, she thought that she could loose herself in them
forever and then some. What she wouldn't do to have those eyes flutter
shut as she kissed his pale pink lips, with his cool tongue dueling with
hers. 'Bad, bad Dawn!' She thought to herself before snapping out of her
trance. "What is it Spike?"
Swinging her legs off the top of the large tomb caskety thing that she
sat on, so that her feet dangled over the edge, she tried to act as
normal as possible. It wasn't any good to try and hide her emotions
though, it was to late and he had clearly sensed what she was feeling.
About the self-pity part anyway.
"What's bothering you Nibblet?" He said it so casually, like he meant
what he said. Maybe he did, who knew?
"It's nothing Spike." She responded, receiving a disbelieving look from
the vampire.
"Pet?" He questioned again. He didn't need to finish the rest of the
sentence she knew what it was already, and she was afraid to answer it.
"It's just that. I. No." She let the sentence hang, as she shook her
head back and forth softly, he didn't need to hear this.
"Come on little bit, you can tell good 'ol Spike what's bothering you."
"I." deep breath " I don't want to be the Key, I never have. I can't
have a normal life, it's been ruined. I might die tonight, tomorrow, or
maybe a week from now and I don't even know what life is." She finished,
tears forming at the corners of her eyes. "I can't take this any more, I
haven't even." suddenly she cut her sentence short as she realized what
she was about to say. There was -no- way she could say that to Spike.
"You haven't even what Nibblet?" He just had to ask that didn't he?
She turned her head to look at him, rather thankful that they were
alone at his place right now. She didn't need this becoming a group
discussion as most other things around here did. "I've never had someone
love me Spike, never someone who loved me in return. Not that mother and
sisterly love either. I mean like marriage love. I could die in the next
ten minutes. Why? Because I was made into a blob of energy. I'm not even
real! All my memories aren't real!
I want to know how to love someone else unconditionally, I want someone
to love me the same way. I don't want to die a virgin, as lame and needy
as it may sound. I've never even had someone kiss me! But who would want
to? I'm just a girl shaped blob of energy." There, she'd said it. It was
out in the open now. "Oh God, I didn't mean that. I shouldn't have said
that." She muttered to herself. She couldn't believe that she just told
him that. She told that to Spike!

He couldn't believe that she just told him that. ".All my memories
aren't real!" She finished finally, but his mind was still back with the
'I don't want to die a virgin' line. He would gladly comply to relieve
her of her sexual frustration. Bloody Hell, he would die if he could
have her.
That would have to wait, however, because he had another matter to deal
with. He looked across at her, they being the same height with her
leverage from the tomb, and found himself drowning in her as he did so
many times before. He had loved her from the start. Since the day that
he found out she was the Key. She'd handled it so well, minus the cut my
arm to pieces incident. What could you expect though? She just found out
that she wasn't real, and she had dealt with it so well. giving him only
a hint as to the strength that she possessed inside of her. All in all
she was only six months old. Not that he cared. He loved his little
Nibblet, though he never told her.
For a moment he didn't know what he was doing. He just stood there, and
she thought that maybe she had scared him, disgusted him even. He
shocked her when he stepped forward to her, his cool hands running along
the insides of her thighs and along her deep blue jeans.
She felt shivers run up her spine a t his touch, so soft and gentle.
But what happened next surprised her even more. His lips were on hers,
and it was better then she had ever dreamed it would be. He was cold and
she was hot, he was darkness and she was the light. Two very complete
opposites becoming one in mind.
He teased her bottom lip softly before working his way up to the top.
His mouth easing hers open, allowing him to explore her form the inside,
caressing and feeling places in her mouth that she didn't even know she
had. It was so soft and sweet. all combined with an intimacy that she
had never imagined possible.
When she began to gasp for air he pulled away, his hands having worked
their way around her waist and pressing her petite form to him while his
mouth was occupied. It didn't seem that she minded though, her arms
wrapped securely around his neck in return.
Once she had taken a breath he plunged at her mouth again, this time
his demonic visage coming forth unwillingly. She could feel the change
that he undertook, the ridges on his brow brushing against her face as
his eyeteeth elongated and tore at her flesh. Her blood poured into her
mouth and he suckled her lip, where she was bleeding, in earnest. It was
a good thing that it hadn't hurt her or his head would be pounding in
protest.
Before long she needed air again and he backed away, taking her in. Her
lips were swelling slightly from all of the attention that he was giving
them, and her cheeks lit up with a pink glow that was unique to only
her. Her breathing was heavy, and he could hear her heart beating
furiously, pumping her warm life-giving blood throughout her body.

"Spike." She whispered softly. Her eyes still closed.
"Pet." He responded, cupping her face in his large hand, cradling her
head in his palm as she leaned into it. He moved his thumb around,
tracing her cheekbones and running it across her lips ever so
delicately. She was ever so delicate, and she had his heart in her palm.
She said nothing to him, not really knowing what to say. Should she
tell him that she loves him? Should she tell him that she cares for him
above all else? So many questions invading her mind that she doesn't
know what to do with them.
Suddenly her complications faded away as he pulled her closer to him
once again, she with her head against his chest and listening to the
rhythm of his unbeating heart. "I love you Nibblet."
"I love you too Spike." More then you could ever know.
