The concept of our future in a biblical perspective is one that is quite different from the present realities. In Heaven, we are told, are beings that last forever, and a light from God, other than sunlight, and trees that have different fruit each month. These are but a few things worth mentioning that do not compare to what man knows today as reality.
How could the coming realities of God's tomorrow fit in with the universe of today? The concept of the split/merge answers just this question, and a wide range of other mysteries! It serves to bridge the gap between science, and creation, and between the physical we know, and the spiritual we know less of.
The world has always known there is something more, in every continent, and country the world over throughout history. Not only Christians, of course have encountered some manifestation of this more than physical dimension, but men of all faiths, as well, even, as men of no faith.
The bible tells of a time coming when a new heaven and a new earth will come to exist, and the present one will cease to be.
2 Peter 3: 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new
heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Rev 21: 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven
and the first earth were passed away;
This coming new universe has elements of both physical, and spiritual in it. -There are angels, and people who live forever, and never get sick, who have spiritual powers. Yet, there are real rivers, trees, with fruit to eat, music, mansions, streets, etc. Jesus also, when He rose from the dead had a resurrected body that we can see was far different than just a physical body.
It exhibited traits of both, a solid body, as well as being spiritual, and
everlasting.
Mark 1: 12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as
they walked, and went into the country. 13 And they went and told it unto
the residue: neither believed they them.
14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat,
Lu 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished
out of their sight.
Lu 2:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had
seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do
thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I
myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see
me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and
his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said
unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a
broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before
them.
Another major difference in the coming new universe, is that it is eternal, and
will not pass away, or decay, like our present one. It is known that, with
present rates of decay, and processes, the sun would cease to exist in theory,
after so many billions of years. However, the bible informs us this will never
be the case. Something must be going to change, if the bible is correct!
Psalms 72: 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued
as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him
blessed.
Ps 89:36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before
me.
Ps 89:37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful
witness in heaven. Selah.
Ps 104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be
removed for ever.
Psalm 148: 3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. 4
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were
created. 6 He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a
decree which shall not pass.
Da 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the
firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever
and ever.
This something, is the core of the split/merge theory. That is, that the
spiritual, and the physical will be combined, or merged together. Before
exploring the idea further, let us look at one key difference we see in this
coming merged universe, and our current one. In the combined spiritual and
physical future, then, as pointed out in the bible, there is a major change in
how light works. Here, as we know, we are completely dependant on the
light, and heat of the sun. Not so in the paradise coming with the new heavens
and earth.
Re 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine
in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Re 22:5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither
light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for
ever and ever.
This brings us to the important point of how present light is used in trying to
ascertain ages. We know the speed light now travels, and we have some idea
of the great distances to stars, and the assumption is made that this speed
indicates time involved in traveling from there to here. The light in the merged
universe, would not be bound to the same laws. Just as spirits are not bound
to the laws of physics, so light in that spiritual world is subject to other laws,
and properties!
Quite often, light is associated with a visit from the other dimension from a
spiritual being, or angel. Many examples of this are found in the bible, such
as the shepherds seeing a light, as the angels told them of the baby Jesus, or
Paul, on the road to Damascus. Another example might be in the experiences
of many who have been declared dead, and came back to tell of a light at the
end of a tunnel, and even a being of light that meets them on the other side.
So then, this spiritual light is separate from the normal light we know, like
sunlight, and exists in what I have called the coming merged universe.
This brings us to the question of the light that was here at creation. There
was light here on earth, days before the sun was even made. What happened
to it, we do not know. What kind of light it was also, we really do not know.
The stars also were created on the same day the sun, and we are told, were
designed to be seen by us men.
Gen 1:1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
and for days, and years:
The sun and stars then, were seen by the first men and women on earth.
Something would have to be drastically different than it now is, in this
universe, to allow for this to happen. Many other things, also, would not be
possible in this world as we now know it, it is safe to say. Life spans,
recorded in the biblical texts have men living just under one thousand years of
age. Plants were made on day three of creation, and men and all creatures in
this world only days later. Yet it was the fruit of trees, and herbs, and plants,
that all were given to eat. This possibly indicates a fantastic rate of plant
growth.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and
the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the
earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding
seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after
his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning
were the third day.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God
said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue
it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which
is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a
tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the
earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the
earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it
was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very
good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Gen 2:8 -And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there
he put the man whom he had formed.
Some thoughts on this: One commentary brings out the following possible
point of some interest.
"And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden
Or "had planted" , for this was not now done after the formation of man, but
before; and so the word translated "eastward" may be rendered, as it is by
some, "before" : for the plain meaning is, that God had planted a garden
before he made man, even on the third day, when all herbs, and plants, and
trees were produced out of the earth. (The New John Gill Exposition of the
Entire Bible)
Another indication that plants, trees in particular, are different in the eternal
merged state of the universe, is that in the New Jerusalem coming down from
heaven, the tree of life bears a new fruit every month. Twelve different types
of fruit growing each year on the same tree.
The worldwide flood of Noah is yet another example of likely major changes
in how things on earth worked. A planet wide deluge which covered even
high mountain peaks, and after many months the waters receded to present
levels. Fountains under the earth, and torrential rain from above were the
source of this world of water. All of which are very difficult to try to explain,
if not impossible, under presently observed laws of nature. It is proposed, in
this new split/merge concept, that the answer that has eluded men for so long
on all these questions, and more, is that in the past, the universe was also
merged! -There came a time in our history where God separated the spiritual
from the physical, and we were left in an only physical universe. The beings
from the separated spiritual dimension can bridge the barrier, and visit our
physical only universe. This we know, as the bible clearly indicates God's
angels watch over us, and His care is ever present.
Before the separation, if the universe was both physical and spiritual, things
would have been very very different. We have already seen how light will not
be similar. The light of the merged cosmos would not have been limited by
the speed of the light of the physical only plane. Therefore Adam would have
seen the light of distant stars minutes, hours, or days after they were created!
With the advent of the split, our physical universe light would have been all
that we had, now operating as it does, with it's properties and speed. It seems
likely that the combined, or merged light was coming in, and the PO (Physical
Only) light continuing to come in was what we were left with after the split.
The process involved in bringing the separation, of course, we do not know,as it does involve the spiritual. So, our PO light did not really exist before,
except perhaps as an element of, or remnant of this former merged light. This
explains why the light really did come from the distant galaxies, and stars, yet
has the properties of something now other than merged light, which would not
be limited by our light speed.
Everything in a physical only universe would be affected, time, space, light,
even perhaps gravity, etc. The fabric of the universe itself very much altered.
How our light was left in place of the former light, we really do not know,
since it very much involved the spiritual. But after the spiritual was separated,
earth received the new light, without interruption at the speed the 'physical
only' universe light now travels. A time delay in information coming along
this highway of light may have occurred as a result of the split. (Information
could be an event such as a supernova) As an example, we could say, a time
delay for information, of 2350 years. So, if supernova 1987a happened 2313
years after the split, which we roughly placed at 2300 BC, (4300 years ago)
we would have it showing up on the 'light information superhighway', say in
1987! If the separation of the physical from the spiritual was not instant, but
took some time, even moments, or hours, distances would be meaningless
almost, in relation to real time. It all depends on the split process that
occurred.
Science is limited to the physical, natural universe, and, alone, cannot begin
to understand how the spiritual dimension works. So, determining by science
exactly to what degree time was affected, and how, or what effect a
separation of a merged universe would have on light, etc. would not be
possible. Science, in other words, cannot dispute the concept of the merge.
All our knowledge or science can do, is look how the physical only universe
now operates, and go from there.
The new heavens and earth is eternal, as was illustrated from the biblical
account. The decay process going on in the natural universe could not exist in
the eternal coming universe. Quite simply, we couldn't have things like the
sun burn out, and the earth 'die' of old age one day, if it was eternal!
Therefore there likely is no radioactive decay in the merged universe. This
simply means that we cannot use radioactive decay as a measure of time from
a merged past, if there was one! Obviously, with no decay in the eternal
heavens and earth, decay would not exist in the way that it now does. No
process of radioactive decay could exist in the eternal, merged universe.
Some thoughts, and possibilities on this, and how the merged past was
different than the physical only present: Perhaps a different process in a
merged universe was/will be in place, still involving the physical, but also the
spiritual, with the end result, that the merged process leads to something other
than decay and death. Materials from this (in the case of a past merged world)
process, would possibly have been largely the same materials, but with the
spiritual elements combined, leading to more of a 'regenerative', than
'degenerative' process. This means that material we may now call 'daughter'
material, (because it is now produced by radioactive decay of the 'parent'
material), may have been serving a different purpose before, in the merged
world. In other words, the only portion of the 'daughter' material that was ever
produced by radioactive decay would be the portion that has decayed in the
time since the split! Now, with biblical timeframes in the order of thousands
of years, only, this means that not much time existed for much material to be
formed by decay. Therefore trying to use this as a means of 'dating' becomes
merely an exercise in not understanding that it was not always decaying.
Same with the future, it will not always be decaying either.
The merge is an idea that is like a journey of discovery. We have part of the
equation, in the observations of the physical world, and universe we live in,
but relatively little knowledge about the spiritual. We do have enough
information from the bible, and human experiences, however, to begin to
piece together the puzzle.
Part Two
I have tried to use the bible as a guideline, to determine when the split
occurred. Here is what I have been able to come up with.
Because the flood year events require the merged world, in my opinion, I
looked to see if this might be a possibility as far as the bible is concerned. I
looked to the time of Noah, and first tried to see if we even knew how long it
took to build the ark.
The Bible does not specifically say how long it took Noah to build the ark.
There exists, however a cryptic warning from God Himself, sometime before
the flood, giving man 120 years till some major event. I had always, like
many others, assumed this warning, giving man 120 years, meant that the
flood would come then. But the separation, or split of the spirit realm from
the physical one is a better fit. The earth we find out, amazingly, was divided
about a century after the flood, in the days of someone named Peleg!
Ge 10:25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg;
for in his days was the earth divided;
Definition
1. to divide, split
(Niphal) to be split, be divided
(Piel)
to split, cleave
to divide
(The Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon)
Since Peleg was born a hundred and one years after the flood, according to
the bible, this leaves 19 years for which the ark to have been built, and the
flood year to occur. If the building of the ark, then took, for example, 6 years,
Peleg would have been about 12, or 13 years old at the time of this division,
or split! From the warning of God that gave man 120 years, till the division,
or split, still left plenty of time to have the flood year, and build the ark.
Another possible indication that this division may involve the spiritual and
physical, comes in the verse immediately preceding the 120 year warning. In
it, we see what many consider to be angels, or at least spiritual beings taking
women for wives, because they were 'fair'. It certainly sounds like a time
when the spiritual and physical world's were much closer together!
Gen 6: 1-3 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of
the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw
the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all
which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he
also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Of some note also, is that, after the days of Peleg, the life spans of man
settled into their present levels, in relatively short order.
So then, if this interpretation were correct, the merged universe of creation
would have lasted from creation till about a century after the flood. Man as a
result of the fall, and biological life on earth, were somewhat the exception,
because of the fall, and death entering into the world. But this concept has the
world itself, and rest of the universe still in the merged state till the split.
From the days of Peleg, till the present, we have the physical only universe
we live in. A thousand years after Christ returns, or a period many call the
'millennium' is when the temporary physical only universe forever passes
away, and the merged new heavens and earth that are eternal, come into
being. Something I have referred to as the merge, in other words, combining
of the physical and spiritual.
And that, simply stated, is the split merge theory.
