| Q: What are bonus bucks? A: Bonus bucks are our class currency that can be exchanged for bonus points at the end of each semester. Q: How do I earn bonus bucks? A: Bonus bucks can be earned through class participation, earning a 100% on a major exam, or by completing bonus work. Q: When can I turn-in bonus bucks? A: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: Bonus bucks will ONLY be collected on the day you take your semester exam! Your bonus points will be added to your semester exam grade. Q: Do I have to turn in my bonus bucks each six-weeks? A: NO! Part of the bonus bucks idea is that you learn how to SAVE, BUDGET, and RESPONSIBLY SPEND. If you are confident in your grade for a semester, save your bonus bucks for a time when you may need them more. Q: What happens if I loose my bonus bucks? A: Bonus bucks are like money, treat them as such! There is a serious theft-problem with Bonus bucks towards the end of the year, put them in your wallet. NEVER leave them out on desks, chairs or lying about.I will not replace lost or stolen bonus bucks. Q: How many points can I get for my bonus bucks? A: Five Bonus bucks are worth one bonus point. If you save-up your Bonus bucks you get price breaks - 20 bonus bucks are worth five points instead of four, etc. Q: Does it really make a difference in my grade? A: YES! Bonus bucks have brought students up as much as two letter grades! They are especially useful if you need just a few points to bump you up to the next letter grade. Q: How many points do we earn in a semester? A: You will earn 400 - 700 points in a semester. Your grade is calculated as the number of points you earned divided by the number of points you had the POTENTIAL to earn. Quizzes are worth 50 points, Exams are worth 100. Most classwork is worth 10 - 30. Major papers and projects are also worth 100. |
