I have finally decided to go ahead and run my tournery (with assistance from VTS) at Potomac Mills. I don't have a date, but it's going to be tenatively set for the first saturday in August...I have to talk to the management about it, but I dont' imagine it will be a problem...but once again, I need to know how many ppl would be interested in entering...there is going to be a tech division (maybe two depending on entries), and possibly a free-style division... so I'm gonna start another POLL and then we'll move from there...if you need to contact me, my name is Harold, and you can EMAIL me at HEDawson@yahoo.com and put PUMP TOURNEY in the subject (or else I'll probably end up deleting it)... Ok, here's the rules for the tourney as it stands: (NOTE: these rules and prices are subject to change without notice) Pump It Up -- The Premiere 2 Potomac Mills Outlet Shopping Mall Dale City, Virginia Saturday, August 10, 2002 - 10:30 am (signup starts at 10) One Division- Hard/Crazy mode (since you can change modes between songs, this will work) Free-Style will begin immediately after the Tech tourney is completed... Entry fee $8.00 per division (or $15 for free-style and tech) Acceptable songs must be between a Level 4 on Hard and a Level 8 on Crazy...(this means Larpus on Hard or Crazy are not acceptable as well as Slam Crazy or Will o' the wisp or Winter on Crazy) NOTE: Altho' Will O The Wisp is a Level 9 on Hard, it is an acceptable song for choice... Qualifying round: Beethoven Virus on Hard (lvl 6) (no codes except whatever turbo the player desires) Scoring: Perfects = 3 points Greats = 2 Good = 1 Bad = 0 Miss = -3 Top 16 (maybe top 8 depending on turn out) scores advance to the next round... Second Round: 1 v 16, 2 v 15, 3 v 14 (etc...) top ranked player chooses first song, and the other player chooses modifiers.. NOTE: NO-ARROWS (STEALTH), RANDOM-VANISH, AND 8X TURBO ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE MODIFIERS Acceptable modifiers are: No turbo, 2x turbo, 3x turbo, 4x turbo, random, hidden (vanish), and mirror. Any combination of these modifiers maybe used at any given time... The scored is computed using the same scoring scale from the qualifying round. Then the second song will be chosen by the other player, and the first player chooses the modifiers...the scored is then computed and added to the scores from the first song... The THIRD song will be chosen by ME or VTS, and we chose the modifiers as well. (THE HOST WHO IS NOT ENTERING THE TECH SIDE OF THIS TOURNAMENT) All scores are then added up and then the player with the higher score advances to the next round in a single elimination brackets. This will continue until there are 4 players left. The rounds will then increase to 4 songs, and will be picked by the players, alternating songs in the same fashion as the previous round...Then there will be a 4 song battle for THIRD PLACE before the final round will begin. In the final round there will be either 5 or 6 songs (to be determined once I know the limitations of the machine) and the songs will be chosen by ME or VTS and can include ANY song on the game (except Slam Crazy because that's just mean). The score will be computed in the same fashion and a winner will be determined from the final score... There....those are the rules.. Prizes will be determined in the near future and will be posted once they have been established...if no prizes can be obtained, then the prizes will be cash..
