| Action photos will have to wait until Dan gets around to taking some of his world-class shots of Molly kicking my head right off my shoulders. Until then: Here it is -- after over five years of training in the martial arts, I passed the test for first dan black belt. This belt display has pride of place in my office, where clients are often glad to know they're working with a fighter. This link (once it works) will get you to some more martial arts photos (my instructors, especially). I'm afraid I can't find space on these pages to plant a consistent Home button, though, so you'll have to use the Back button on your browser. |

| Isn't this one a kill? Grandmaster Hee Il Cho, who is indisputably one of the great martial artists of his generation, came to Master Kim's tournament last spring. He was gracious enough to pose with Andrei (who had no idea what was going on or that he was next to genuine greatness) and me (who was nearly bowled over). | ||||||||||||||
| Chung Kim's Black Belt Academy is where I have trained in tae kwon do for over three years. Spellious Tae Kwon Do is part of Grandmaster Kim's organization, and it's where Marina and Andrei go to their Little Tigers classes. They also offer tae kar dio classes that make me sweat and breathe hard. ?Taekwon.net is one of the highest-content martial arts sites out there, and its translations from Korean into English are consistently entertaining (some folks call it Engrish). Kung Fu Quad Cities Ken Gullette's web site (yes, Doc, he's the one who teaches tai chi). Videos of forms and fighting, plus a discussion board where Sifu Ken's personality sparkles. |
