Platform:
I enjoy playing vintage computer games, along with a bunch of free stuff off
the net. I also had a playstation early on, and upgraded to the PS2.
Genre:
This is a big question. I'll play anything, but I'm partial to strategy
games. Action games have their place, and I'm a big fan of FPSs, but I perfer
one with SOME thought behind the trigger. Games like Rainbow Six kick ass,
while Unreal and Quake are nice way to kill a few minutes. Strategy would also
include RPGs. They are mostly a story, but there's nothing wrong with that.
RPGs like the final fantasy series I find shallow, but Final Fantasy Tactics
(which was actually made by Quest) was the best game on the playstation. Now,
the peak of strategy is, of course, NetHack. (It's a rouge game, nothing to do
with hacking the net) To that effect you could say my favorite genre are rouge-
like games. NetHack is not only a great game, it's a great legacy, and totally
free! However, games like Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto were beautiful
games that are unique and actually worthy of the $50 I shelled out for them.
Personal info:
Im from a middle-class family, so I can afford a new game every now and then.
Im on the smarter side of society, hurrah. and Im proud to say that I am
really a geek. I have plans on becoming an engineer. Im a freshman in
college right now, and am suffering through dorm life without a computer. This
hurts because I like to dawdle in programming and graphic art. Im also a
decent fencer, mostly foil with some epee. As far as games go, Im a sucker
for new ideas, or clever twists to games. They used to take up a large portion
of my life, until I realized that they dont let people develop. At some point
you just have to go out and live.
Personal info that you dont need to know:
I am currently the leader (Shaman) of a cult. The cult of COW no less.
(relax, its more of a meat club, but you didnt hear that from me)
Thanks for your time, I'd like to voice my opinions on the industry, it's effect, and why it will go on despite this.
