Shipman’s interest in sound recording started in his childhood, when
his elder brother bought a reel-to-reel recorder. They listened to the best
of the 60’s and a bunch of offbeat folk singers, splicing bits of
tape together as these reels began fouling up in the tape track. They also
discovered the unique recording features, speed controls and an record intake
volume control, so that you could manually fade one song into another.
But that was about 40 years ago… In the spring of 2005, Bill replaced his old 4-track tape recorder with a Yamaha AW1600 Mobile Digital Recorder. His chief interests are in live recording, with an edited polish. In other words, he can clear out some goofs, make pleasant endings for songs that fall apart instead of ending and have crisp fresh starts.

The Shipman family has been a driving force in summer time outdoor fun at music jamborees. We have good stage coverage and access to other equipment for making rock and roll fill the air across the New River. We have loads of friends and loyal fans who bring their love and energy to these kinds of picnic parties. They are key in making these types of gatherings happen. If you would be interested in planning and implementing the next summer family event with live music, feel free to see a event proposal for a Sugar Run Mountain Electric Music Jamboree for Summer Solstice-Father’s Day weekend. |
