| NEON CLOVER The evolution started with 2 guys who had a dream to play music. Billy and Geoff formed a band back in 1996 in Geoff's basement called Neon Clover. This was just a band where they could experiment with different styles and mold their playing techniques. it was basically Geoff on guitar and Billy on drums playing to an old White Zombie tape. THE GREENBEANS Then in 1997 the GreenBeans were formed. They mostly covered portions of easy songs and never really finished anything. The band's line-up was: Austin Cutright - Lead Vocals Geoff Carl - Guitar Billy Riggs - Bass Multiple Drummers CHRONICLE Due to lack of interest they broke up. But playing hard rock was still in the back of everyone's minds. In 2001 Billy and Geoff decided to hang up flyers all over town looking for a permanent drummer. Nick Schmidt soon answered a flyer and a tryout was arranged. Geoff went to Nick's house to audition him and was amazed by Nick's ability at the instrument. He was now in the band. Geoff Carl - Guitar/Vocals Billy Riggs - Bass Nick Schmidt - Drums Now they needed a name. Billy came up with the name while Geoff came up with the logo. They were now Chronicle! With the talent show coming up they needed to get a song together. They were tossing song ideas around when Jake Staab was initiated into the band as a member only for the talent show. He propossed "Paradise City" by Guns and Roses. The song soon evolved into a heavy remix, while still preserving the basic song structure. The band tore up the stage at the tryouts and made it to the show itself. But when talent show time came around lack of experience brang the band down to the ground. This was the first time Billy, Geoff, or Nick had ever played in front of an audience. The song started off with studdering vocals, due to nerviousness. Geoff was the first to mess up by forgetting the second verse, so he just repeated the first one over. And instead of going into the interlude after the 2nd chorus Jake started soloing in the first one which signalled Nick to start the interlude. This threw the whole band off and they missed the big finally of the song. They took 3rd though due to lack in competition. If they would have nailed the song as they did at the tryouts, a 2nd place victory would have been inevident. After the talent show the band slowly dissipated and broke up after Nick left the band to join Blue Chain (Jake's Band). CMF With Billy and Geoff desperate for a band and without a drummer something drastic had to be done. Geoff decided to drop the guitar and get a drum set. After months of practice and auditioning multiple guitarists Geoff was improving at the new instrument. Finally Joe Harlow was inducted into the band, due to that he was interested in the same genre as Billy and Geoff. They couldn't ever decide on songs to cover so they just jammed and wrote their own music. The first song that came together was a song called "6 Feet Under," a song about another one of Geoff's schizophrenic rages. "The Way," the band's major radio friendly hit, was soon to follow. The talent show was coming up and CMF entered with a whole lot of confidence. They were going to play "6 Feet Under." But before the main show Geoff got called to the office. Rumors had it that the band's name stood for something bad, which it does, and the administration asked Geoff what it stood for. In a panic Geoff made up some bullshit and left to set up for the show (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA). Instead of saying CMF at the show they introduced them as Carcinegetic Metal Failure (the bullshit name). This was unfair because DSS was introduced as DSS. CMF nailed the song, but due to preppy-popped-up princess judges, DSS got second (they were terrible) and CMF didn't place. BUT THIS YEAR WE HAVE SOMETHING BIG PLANNED! SOMETHING NO ONE ELSE HAS EVER DONE BEFORE! A NEW SONG HAS BEEN MADE! IT IS THE BAND'S ANTHEM SONG AND WILL BLOW THE HATERS DOWN WIND!!!! |
