In 1988, Le Ly Hayslip founded the "East Meets West Foundation." She hoped to heal the wounds of the Vietnamese War.  The East Meets West has grown to be a highly respected, non-government organization (NGO) in Vietnam. Although Le Ly is no longer with East Meets West, the people of Vietnam will always be grateful for her vision and gifts.

The East Meets West Foundation provides the fundamental to needy children and their families. Donated money provides a deprived child with better health, education, clean water, a place to live, etc.
The Village of Hope, established in 1993, serves orphaned, disadvantaged, disabled, and at-risk children in Central Vietnam. Children in the program are introduced to: athletics, music, dance, art, theater training, and English as a second language instruction. They attend school, receive health and dental care, and participate in vocational training programs, such as typing, computers, tailoring, carpentry, motorbike repair and animal husbandry.
The East Meets West Foundation also provided school to the children of Vietnam. Thousands of children are still deprived of an education because there simply isn't enough government funding for the schools. The East Meets West Foundation does the best they can to help provide the funding necessary to build desperately needed elementary schools. The children at the rightare waving with deep gratitute for their newly-built school.
As unbelievable as it seems, this bamboo cot under a tarp
(left)  was home for this mother and her three children. To build a concrete block home with a tile roof, concrete floor, clean water well and latrine costs as little as $1,000 (below.) Their new, two-room home provides a dry and safe place to live.
The mission of East Meets West is to partner with the people of Vietnam to improve their health, education, and economic conditions in an effort to eradicate poverty and to help them achieve self-sufficiency. For more information, please visit http://www.eastmeetswest.org.
