| A LOOK AT REPENTANCE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The question is often asked, WHAT is repentance WHY should I repent and HOW do I repent? In order to obtain answers to these vital questions let us turn to the WORD of GOD. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHAT IS REPENTANCE? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What is repentance? Repentance is a change of attitude, to choose to depart from of the world of darkness and to enter into the light that Y'Shua (Jesus) the Messiah offers through the shedding of His precious blood on the Cross. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Now CHANGE YOUR MIND and ATTITUDE to God and TURN to HIM so that He can cleanse away your sins and send you wonderful times of refreshment from the presence of the Lord" Acts 3:19 (Paraphrased). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| THE WORLD OF DARKNESS. It is only by realising the nature of the world of ;trespasses and sins; that we can appreciate the worth of the Lord's Sacrifice in redeeming or freeing us from it. We must look at this world through God's eyes with the help of His Word and not through our eyes. Once we do this, we will understand the desperate state of those who remain in the world, who live a life of sin. When the Lord Y'Shua (Jesus) was with us, John recorded that | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it" John 1:5. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So it has always been. To be rescued from the world of darkness, men must respond with more than just a "sorry." It has to be with an understanding of our sinful nature and the desire in our heart for complete restoration with our Creator. This can be achieved because of Y'Shua (Jesus), who gave His life that we might live! Unless we have repented, we live in the world of "darkness." Paul taught, that those who are in the world of darkness; | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| walk according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience" Ephesians 2:2. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Repentance is to TURN your back on sin and commence on the path that leads to eternal life. WHAT IS REPENTANCE? It is your choice to RETURN to God, our Creator and Redeemer. Throughout Scripture the Lord God makes this request, "RETURN AGAIN TO ME." We are to "Repent and Turn" to God and cease from all our transgressions and we will be washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, "and be made WHOLE AGAIN ; made alive." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins" Ephesians 2:1. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHY SHOULD I REPENT? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What are you looking for in life? Is it money, possessions, prestige or drink, sex and drugs? What makes your life run smoothly, in peace and full of happiness? Is it any or all of the things stated above? NO, certainly not, because there are so many outside influences that will disturb your happiness, your peace and your life. Your lifestyle is linked to what you are seeking. What you seek is what you will get! If you seek the things of the world, you will never enter the Kingdom of God. In the freedom that the Lord God has given us, we have to choose between good and evil, eternal life or not. That is your choice now! LIFE or DEATH. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Psalm One is a good guide on why we should repent and return to God. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Verse 1. Blessed is
the man who walks not in the counsel of
the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits
in the seat of the scornful. 2. But,
his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in
His law he meditates day and night. 3. He shall be like a
tree planted by the rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf
also shall not wither; and whatever he
does shall prosper. Verse 4. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5. Therefore, the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish" Psalm 1. |

| This Psalm proves there are two kinds of people on the earth. Verses 1 to 3 describe ONE kind of person, the RIGHTEOUS. On the other hand, verses 4 to 6 clearly describe and define the WICKED, the sinner. In other words, we are either on the path to heaven, or to hell. THERE IS NO MIDDLE ROAD. This Psalm speaks of TWO people, TWO ways, and TWO destinies. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If your destiny is that of verses 4 to 6, you will suffer "weakness, sorrow and death." However, if you seek "STRENGTH, JOY and LIFE," then you will want to repent and live in the truth and blessing of verses 1 to 3. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| HOW DO I REPENT? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Friend, the way up is, to first go down. We must humble ourselves before the Lord and we have the assurance that He will lift us up no matter where we have been. "The LORD is near unto them that are of a broken heart and saves those of a contrite spirit." Then being renewed, "Born Again" we are to live a Messiah-directed life, where Y'Shua (Jesus) sits on the throne of our lives. We must yield ourselves unto Him in all our ways, being led by the Holy Spirit, resulting in a life that is in harmony with God's plan. HOW DO WE REPENT? Your heart will have already guided you as you have been reading this, GIVE YOUR LIFE TO Y'Shua (Jesus)the Messiah. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. BELIEVE THE GOSPEL. That Y'Shua (jesus) died in our place. That He rose from the dead. Y'Shua (Jesus) is the only way to God! Read Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 and John 14:6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. CONFESS YOUR SINS, desiring in your heart to depart from all evil. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. We must individually receive Y'Shua (Jesus) the Messiah as our SAVIOUR and LORD of our lives, then can we know and experience God's love and His plan for our lives. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The next question should be "When do I Repent" - REPENT NOW! Do not wait until tomorrow, IT COULD BE TOO LATE. Come to Y'Shua (Jesus) now, BELIEVE, REPENT and be BAPTIZED and you shall be SAVED by the BLOOD of the LAMB of GOD! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| "Dear Lord, my God, I wish to thank You that You love me so much that ;You sent Your only begotten Son; to save me from my sins. Lord Y'Shua (Jesus) I need You. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and as Lord of my life. Lord, take control of the throne of my life now and guide me to be the child You wish me to be. Forgive me Lord for all my sins and make me whole again. Be with me Father as I commence to walk the path of righteousness according to Your Word. In Y'Shua's (Jesus) precious and loving name, I pray. Amen. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
