Take good care of Joanna
Lindsay: Im not Joanna. Nora: Right. Lindsay: Oh, you dont believe me? You believe me, dont you Troy? (Troy comes face to face with her REALLY close and then he walks away with silence, concerned about his hand.) Lindsay: Come on, you know this painting has nothing to do with what happened between us. Nora: Oh, Lindsay, it everything does have to do with you and you see to it that it does. A painting, this is a portrait of a woman who was betrayed, destroyed, hurt by a man who claimed to love her. Lindsay: Joanna not Lindsay. Nora: Right, Joanna IS Lindsay. Lindsay: Well, thats your interpretation. Nora: Hmm. Lindsay: Troy is educated enough to know what the painting really is. Why don you tell Nora what Joanna actually means to you. (commercial) Lindsay: You understand that I donated Joanna to the clinic with only the best of intentions, dont you? (Troy opens his mouth to speak; Nora interrupts.) Nora: Right Lindsay, please. Lindsay: I did. Joannas gonna be the gift that keeps on giving and hopefully, in time, will increase in value. You do believe me, dont you, Troy? Troy: Whatever, you say, Lindsay. It was a very generous gift and Ill make sure you receive a formal thank-you from Claire and the board of directors. Lindsay: Oh, no, you dont have to do that. You dont---you dont have to thank me. Joanna is my way of showing that I want to bury the hatchet. Because thats what I want to do; I want to pick it up and bury it. Nora: I know just where Id like to bury it. (Witty or what?) Lindsay: You still dont believe that Im not Joanna, huh? Nora: In a word, no way. Lindsay: And I think that one day, thats gonna make crystal clear to you. Nora: And I think that one day, youll be back in Statesville where you belong. (More witty.) (Troy, too weak and too afraid to battle back, refuses to make eye contact with Lindsay nor Nora, yet he runs his hand down the length of her shoulder and stares at his feet as he begs Nora in whisper) Troy: Just let go. Let her go Lindsay: Thank you, Troy. Well, time flies when youre having fun and Id better get back to the gallery and get back to work. It was great spending time with you again (She turns around to look at Emily and turns back to Troy) Oh! Congratulations. You take good care of Joanna. I know you wouldnt want anything to happen to her. (She leaves.) Nora: How come you let her get away with that? (He turns around and doesnt answer; his blue eyes are closed and hes licking his lower lip.) (Next scene. Hes walking towards the painting and staring at it) Nora: You didnt believe all that slop she was shoveling did you? Troy: No. Nora: Then why didnt you tell HER to shovel it? Troy: Because Im not gonna, Im not gonna stoop to her level, Nora. Okay? Theres nothing Lindsay can do to hurt us. Nora: Nothing except bringing up your past! Troy: Whats that supposed to mean? Nora: Well, your past with her! Troy: Look Nora--- it doesnt matter, okay? Lets---Lindsays out of our lives, alright? And shes already done her worst. Nora: Yeah, and failed. Troy: Thats right. So why dont we just forget about all this? Why wont you get back to Keri and Antonios party and have some fun? Nora: No, I could stay. Troy: Its no bother. The partys already over. Besides if I dont get back to my patients, the DeVil Biss people are going to change their mind about that grant. Nora: Well, Id like to see them try. Ill sue them for breach of promise. Im so proud of you. (She caresses his cheek. *sigh*) Troy: You see? Nora: Hmm? Troy: Now thats all I care about. Nora: Hows your hand? Troy: Oh, its fine. Its fine, just a little cut. (Liar. Hes just trying to look like a MAN in front of his woman, hee hee.) Nora: It was your day and Lindsay had to ruin it. Troy: Hey, come on, youre giving her far too much credit. Nothing can be ruined as long as I have you. Alright, now why dont you head on back to Keri and Antonio and do me a favor. Give them my best, will you? Give them my best. Please. Nora: Okay. Troy: Alright. (He kisses her.) Nora: See you later. (Kisses her again.) Troy: You can count on it. Nora: Bye. Troy: Bye (she leaves) (Troy takes a slow breath and creepy once again, eerie piano please. He slowly grabs the painting and holds it. Emily gathers around the painting beside him.) Emily: So how are you really doing? (Theres a very long chilling silence and suddenly Troy slams his fist through the painting and slaps it heavily onto the table. The secretary in the back was frightened by the loud bang and so is Emily who sprung a step backwards and covered her mouth from screaming. He continues staring at the haunting picture that doesnt want to go away.) (Lindsay is in her gallery and lifts a glass of champagne.) Lindsay: To the power of art. (She drinks it. Well, I guess art does have power, including a work of art like her.) (Theres a knock on the door and Jen comes in. I skipped the conversation. In short, Jen tells her mom about how she trapped Natalie into being the maid of honor and Lindsay reminds her that revenge is a dangerous game. Jen assures her mom that she learns from the best and that shell be careful.) Troy: Lindsay knows about Joanna. Emily: Maybe not. I mean, if she knew then wouldnt she just come right out and say so? Troy: No, not when she can play her STUPID little games! Emily: Joanna I-it is a common name. Maybe it really WAS a common coincidence. Troy: And what if it wasnt Emily? Huh? Emily: Then why dont you take away her power? Why dont you tell Nora about Joanna, yourself? Troy: If you knew how Joanna died, youd know why. (Emily stares in confusion.) (Next scene) Emily: Wh-what do you mean I dont know how Joanna died. You told me the whole story. (Guessed wrong, honey.) Didnt you, Troy? Troy: Yeah, I just--- (scratches back of head) Lindsays gotten me so mad that I cant even think straight. Emily: Troy, Im your sister, (Pretty guitar music plays) and Im on your side no matter what. Troy: I know you are. (He removes a strand of hair off of Emilys face.) Emily: Just like youve always been on mine. So, what are we going to do with Lindsay Rappaport? Troy: I dont know. My gut tells me to confront her. But what if youre right? What if its just some kind of weird coincidence? What if Im tipping her off, then? Knowing Lindsay, shed just start digging until she DID find something. Emily: But maybe if you dont confront her, you cant make sure of what she knows. Troy: Sure I can. Sure I can, and I know exactly how. (Episode ends)
