Eczema Advice
This information is from a book that has become my "Bible" since I had my baby in November 1999.  Aromatherapy for Babies and Children by Shirley Price and Penny Price-Parr. Shriley Price is a well-known and much respected aromatherapist who has written many books on the subject, she also  runs a world-renowned training school in Hinkley, Leicestershire, U.K.

Price suggests that a change of diet can make a huge difference to the sufferers of eczema.  This would suggest that it's main cause is perhaps a food allergy.
"... the usual offenders being dary produce (cow's milk and cheese), wheat, and white, refine products (bread, sugar etc.)."  You might want to try a change of diet to see if this improved matters; keeping a food diary is a good way of seeking out the possible culprits.

Tried and Tested Blend for Eczema

60 mls Sweet Almond Oil
OR 60 mls White Base Lotion
40 mls Calendula Oil
6 drops Geranium
(Pelargonium graveolens)
6 drops French Lavender
(Lavandula augustifolia)
4 drops Bergamot
(Citrus bergamia)
I have used this blend on my baby with excellent results.  Holly had seborrhoeic ezcema on her face and was precribed a cortisone cream, which came with a leaflet warning of the possible scarring effects, especially on the face.  Naturally this made me very uneasy about using it.  I made up this lotion and applied it to her face twice a day, and within about ten days the eczema had cleared up.  I have since used it as an after bath moisturiser, and this has cleared up some small dry patches which she had on her legs.

I have also had excellent results on a friends little boy who has atopic eczema.  My blend has not completely cured his eczema, however when it was used during the day, and his usual prescribed treatment applied at night, the results have been remarkable.  The family have been able to take him swinmming for the first time, and he is able to find some relief from the constant itching, and open sores.
