| With freshness and newness and a soft glow, you entered my life like fresh fallen snow. In awe of your design, enthralled by your sparkle, I ran to greet you from the safety of my shelter. I lingered and relished in your gentle touch upon my heart, your magical dance hypnotic and I could not part. Like snow drifts against an old wooden fence, you built within me and I loss my sense. I stayed too long, now frozen in my shoes, my heart is stinging like frostbitten toes. I can't find where I came from, it's been buried by you. It seems there's nothing to protect me and I don't know what to do. I knew my shelter was humble and barely kept me warm, yet, I never thought the likes of you could keep me from its charm. I'll never again marvel at a snowflakes fall to earth. I'll always remember its hot bite, like flying embers from the hearth. Copyright@Heather Johnson 1997 |
