Wild vs. Colorado Avs
2003 Stanley Cup Western Conf. Quarterfinals
April 21, 2003 - Game #6
Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul
3-2 Overtime Win
The Wild's miracle on ice continues...with a victory in Denver last Saturday, the Wild forced a Game 6 back in St. Paul tonight.   Cousin Kristi and husband Dewey went to the game, as did my friend JoAnn. The X was energized once again, but with a desperate nature because a loss would mean the end of the season for the Wild.  It was a tight game defensively and yet the offense was aggressive, but the score was 0-0 after two periods.  Manny was awesome in goal.  Every penalty kill, blocked shot, and hit received a standing ovation and loud cheers.  Eventually the Wild scored two goals and the X just exploded with thunder!  The Wild looked like they would hold on to the lead until the dude behind me jinxed the game when he said something about a "shutout."  Everyone knows you're not supposed to say the "S" word while the goalie is working a shutout.  Within a minute the Avs scored a goal and scored a second one near the end of regulation - forcing an overtime period.  The Wild have one of the best overtime records - and Richard Park got the game-winning goal to send the series back to Denver for Game 7.
