Fun Facts:
Mattie Cat. . .1994-2004
My cousins once had a cat named "Muffin." Whenever I visited them I would play with Muffin. But in 1994 Muffin needed a new home, and so I adopted her and she became "Mattie Cat."
Mattie's journey has come to an end.  On Friday, October 10, at 4:15, Mattie began her long, final nap.  She was quite weak and had stopped eating and had lost a lot of weight.  She was ready to go...so I took the day off from work to spend it with her.  We played outside and took a nap in the sun.  Then it was time for her last car ride and visit to the vet.  It was over quite quickly and she's now at peace.  Everyone who knew her will miss her greatly.  The house is so empty and quiet without Mattie Cat.
Mattie really is cute.  She is part tiger, part tabby, and part Maine Coon cat.  She has a white chin and belly as well as white "socks" - two long ones in the back and two short ones in the front.
Mattie is a cat, but don't try telling her that - she thinks she's human! No doubt she belongs to me - I speak Norwegian to her and she seems to understand.  She also loves lefse!
Mattie in 2001,
ca. 11 pounds
She is named Mattie because when I first brought her home she had lots of matted fur that I had to comb out (and I couldn't call a cat Muffin - to me she needed a real name.)
Mattie in October 2004,
ca. 6 pounds
Sometimes Mattie acts more like a dog - especially when she sits up on her hind legs and begs for food.  Sometimes you'll even see her tongue hanging out and panting like a dog.
More about my pet:
Mattie and I have lived in a couple of different duplex houses and apartments over the years, but I recently bought our own house in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Now Mattie has lots of room to roam.  She appreciates all of the windows that let in the warm sunshine.  She's quite the exterminator and likes to eat all of the spiders and bugs in the house too!
Last year Mattie was diagnosed with diabetes - so every morning I had to give her an insulin shot.  Matter of fact, we were at the vet learning how to do the shots on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.  But now she eats a special diabetic cat food and no more insulin shots - YEAH!
