You were a young girl in the 1970s if...
This list has been floating around e-mail for a while, but I thought I would post it here for your enjoyment.  I laughed so hard the first time I read it.  I have edited down the list somewhat to those things I found relevant to my life in the 1970s (with personal comments in parantheses). To this list I'd add French braids, Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, Mrs. Beasley dolls, and playing "Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board" at slumber parties.
1. You wore that rainbow shirt that was half-sleeved, and the rainbow went up one sleeve, across your chest, and down the other.  (I never had one, but I remember Michelle B did.)
2. You made small chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven.  You washed them down with snow cones from your Snoopy Snow Cone Machine. (I never had either one of these toys - but Darcie M did - so I spent a lot of time at her house.)
3. You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket. (Yup, the seat was even yellow and the basket had white daisies on it.)
4. You ever owned roller skates with metal wheels. (Nope, but we went to Windom for Saturday Rec and skated quite a bit.)
5. You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute. Admit it! (Not really - but that Bobby Brady sure was cute!)
6. You had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days - remember Moon Boots? You then advanced to Duck Shoes in the '80s.  (I still have my Moon Boots in the trunk of my car in my Snow Emergency Kit - they are by far the warmest boots EVER!)
7. You had either a "bowl cut" or a "pixie", not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill", because your mom was sick of braiding your hair.  How traumatic when people thought you were a boy.  (To this day I hate short haircuts for this very reason!)
8. You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. (Horrors, I can say yes to all 3.)
9. You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon. (I never had one of these - but my cousins did.  I do remember begging for an Atari though.)
10. You spent hours out back on your metal swing set with the trapeze.  (Mine was metal - but I didn't have the trapeze - but I do remember the monkey bars at Central Park and at Riverside Elementary.)
Heather back in 1979 with that blue satin jacket everyone just had to have!  Gotta love that bowl-cut hairdo too.
11. You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (I remember learning how to make these barrettes with the ribbons - I think Julie H. and Michelle B. had the most though).
12. You ever had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard wooden soles and the buckle).  (I had these too - but they made my feet hurt so bad - and my calves never did get thinner from walking in them as Dr. Scholl's advertized.)
13. You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffleshirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!  (Actually I think the frilly high-collared shirts were just a big 70s-80s fad that had nothing to do with the show - but growing up so close to Walnut Grove - we all felt Laura was our best friend.  The collected works in the box set was the first books I remember receiving as a gift - for my 8th birhday.)
14. You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink. (Once again - Saturday Rec trips to the roller rink in Windom!)
15. Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket. (I remember wearing a whole in the back pocket of my blue jeans with my white comb.)
16. You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie. (I must be too old - I didn't get into this group, but I remember the Smurfs.)
17. You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazard was your boyfriend. (This reminded me of 5th grade at Riverside Elementary - Andy L was Bo and John L was Luke and Michelle B was Daisy.)
18. You had Star Wars action figures, too. (Actually, my little brother had them - I didn't.)
19. You thought unicorns were real. (Nope.)
20. You ever asked your Magic-8 Ball the questions:  "Who will I marry, Shawn Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?" (No Magic-8 Ball, but Shawn's "Born Too Late" was the first album I bought - and I had to have a light blue silk jacket with his face on it.)
21. You completely wore our your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums. (I remember making up dance routines to Grease songs.)
22. You tried to do lots of arts and crafts things, like yarn and Popsicle sticks, and those weird potholders made on a plastic loom. (I also remember making "God's Eyes" out of yarn and sticks.)
23. You made Shrinky-Dinks! (This reminds me of Monica H.'s birthday party.)
24. You used to tape songs off the radio by holding your portable tape recorder up to the speaker. (Casey's top 40 countdown was taped frequently.)
25.  You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club. (I remember ordering lots of books so I could get the "Benji and Tiffany" dog poster.)
26. You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books. (Are you there God? It's me, Margaret.)  (But then we discovered more about women's issues with Judy's adult books like "Wifey".)
27. You thought Olivia Newton-John's song, "Physical" was about aerobics. (Can we say sweatbands and leg warmers!)
28. You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs. (Those friendship pins and beads - what a mess - but we all had them on our Nike red swoosh shoes.)
29. You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer. (Nope - but I did watch the show.)
30. You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin. (Actually my brother had the Big Wheel - no Sit-n-Spin - but I remember bouncing on the Hippity Hop.)
31. You had a subscription to "Dynamite" and "Tiger Beat." (Not a subscription, but I do remember buying lots of them in the grocery store.)
