| ElsaStandish peered over at her cousin, JackONeill. "This place is rather boring," she complained. "I'm hungry. When are we going to head back?" "Come on, Essie," Jack teased. "Where's you sense of adventure?" "At home, with my down pilla," the eyrie groused. It was entirely too early in the morning for her to be roaming the foreign plains of Meridell with a bunch of overly excitable Korbats. "What was that?" Batty asked. Hammy glanced around. "Where?" he asked, trying to figure out where Batty was looking. As they glanced around, the bushes nearby started to shake loudly. "There!" Monifi squeaked. Looking up at his older brother, he said, "Jack, I'm thcared." "I'm sure it was merely a snowbunny or angelpuss, Monifi," Essie comforted. "Nothing to be frightened of." Suddenly, a creature careened out of the bushes at breakneck speed. Jack and the other Korbats dodged out of the way, but it barreled right into the young eyrie. "Hi!" the creature said excitedly. Essie blinked in surprise. The neopet was a bright red color with small horns on its head and a short flippy tail. "Who - what are you?" she asked in shock. "I'm AbigailWebb," she said, bounding around the clearing happily. "I'm an ixi." She paused for a moment and asked. "What are you?" "An eyrie," Essie answered immediately. "Where'd you come from?" "Sinsi made me," the ixi announced. "Where'd you come from?" "Neopia Central," Batty answered. "Wow!" the ixi exclaimed. "I've always wanted to get out of Meridell. It's so boring here. All you can do is count potatoes or stack turnips. Can I come with you?" "Thure," Monifi answered happily. Jack frowned. "She can't live with us," he said. "Our place is too small." He turned to Essie and said, "She'll have to live with you, Es." "Me?!" the eyrie exclaimed. "Live with that - that - that hyperactive, uncouth, throwback of a neopet. You, sir, must be joking." Batty shook her head. "We can't just leave her here, Essie." As the six neopets started on the journey home, Essie said, "I have just one question." "What's that?" Hammy asked. "Whose idea with this again?" "Mine," Jack responded. "Tonight...while you sleep," Essie warned, as Abby bounded around her chattering away at top speed. So it was that Essie and Abby came to be sisters. Living together and trying to get along. It turned out that Abby was lucky to have left Meridell when she did. Less than two months later, her homeland was attacked by Darigon and has not been the same since. The pair joined Darigon's army in hopes that they could help the Meridell cause, by acting as double agents. Things did not turn out quite the way they'd planned - they seldom do - but that is another story... The End! |
