| Ezra's mother was quite young when he was born; as a consequence, she was not ready for the responsibilities involved in raising a child. Not knowing what else to do, Maude often left her son with relatives. While Ezra did not have the happiest childhood, neither was it really a horrible time for him. Ezra spent a great deal of his childhood living with his mothers aunt in Kentucky. They lived comfortably, but not extravagantly. Ezra had to make do without many things, but he always felt he had the most important thing a growing child needs a loving, stable home. Ezra was able to go to Harvard because his mothers husband at the time was an alumnus and paid for his education there. He excelled in all his classes and was quite popular with the other students. While he was attending Harvard, he met Melinda Rothechilde, who was singing at a nearby club. After college, Ezra and Melinda were married and moved to the Washington, DC area, where Ezra took a job in the NSA. He was recruited to join the CIA after spending a year and a half in the NSA. Ezra started out as a cryptographic analyst, but was later trained in undercover work. After three years of marriage, Ezra and Melinda were finally able to conceive a child. Soon, Ezras family was completed when Melinda gave birth to healthy baby girl. They named the child Amanda, after her mother. Just when everything seemed to be going well for the Standish family they had a beautiful child, Ezra had a promising career and Melinda was beginning to make a name for herself as a singer tragedy struck. While returning home after a holiday party, three years ago, a drunk driver collided with the vehicle Ezra was driving. Melinda was killed instantly and Ezra suffered a head injury that left him comatose. A week after the accident, Ezra finally woke up. After going through occupational therapy, Ezra made a complete physical recovery. However, Ezra was emotionally devastated by the death of his wife, because he felt partially responsible. Ezras work began to suffer and the Agency was eventually forced to put him on extended psychological leave. After three years of therapy with a grief councilor and other trained professionals, the Agency decided that Ezra was stable enough to return to limited active duty. There is only one limitation placed on him. Until he no longer has panic attacks, he is not allowed to go on deep cover assignments. Ezra currently resides in a medium-sized house in Alexandria, Virginia with his daughter and their dog, Fox. His codename is a humorous reference to his pentient for eating honey. It was given to him by Clayton Webb after they worked on a mission together. |

| Having read Ezras profile, you may be asking yourself, What problems does Ezra have and what are they caused by? Well, Ezra has a few emotional and psychological problems because of the tragic death of his wife. His most notable problem is his need to check in with his young daughter periodically. This is the problem that caused the Agency to put him on psychological leave. Ezras need to check in with his daughter is rooted in the emotional trauma he suffered as a result of the accident. He checks in with her whenever he knows that she has traveled. For example, in the morning when she arrives at pre-school or the sitters, at noon when she arrives at the sitters (on days she has pre-school) and again around four oclock in the afternoon when she goes to her playgroup, Ezra would call her. He does this by calling her on a cell phone, which she carries in her knapsack. Another problem Ezra has is a constant need to know the time. He has a clock on his desk that is set to the time on the official atomic clock and his watch is set to the same time. This is because, on the night of the accident, Melinda and Ezra had lost track of time and left the party later than they planned. Ezra feels that the accident would not have occurred if he had been paying more attention to the time; he would have more cautious and may have seen the driver run the stop light or might not have been on the street at all. Now, you may wonder, if Ezra is obsessed with the time, why is he always late for work? The answer is simple. He doesnt care if he is late for work if it means he is spending more time with his daughter. As a consequence, it is when he is getting ready to leave work that he is most concerned with the time. Ezra is also very afraid of flying, but this is a problem that haunted him long before the accident in which his wife was killed. His fear of flying is, in fact, so severe that he has to take prescription tranquilizers before he flies. |
