| Fan_Fiction_ List's September Challenge: Write a fic in any fandom, with a flood and something (important to the story) breaking/broke, and a blanket. To make things even more fun, sentences "You really don't want to do that." "You should be labeled a health hazard." "Now look what you've done." "It makes so much sense when you put it like that." ** Keenan stared out the window morosely at the pouring rain. This is horrible, he grumbled. Turning around, he asked, Are you sure we cant call for help? Chris shook his head. The phones are all down, he explained for the twentieth time. The wind broke the telephone and power lines. Hence, Ezra said softly. We are basically trapped in a darkened building with no way out. Vin sighed deeply and folded his wings behind him as he settled onto a nearby table. We should play a game or something. That the time will pass more quickly. A loud crash brought the attention of the agents to the door on the far wall. What was that? Chris asked, voicing the question that was on all their minds. Dont know, Vin answered, hopping to the floor. He strode across the room and put his hand on the door to peek outside. You really don't want to do that, Keenan said firmly. Vin frowned. Not gonna know what happened unless we open the door, Keen, he stated, pulling the door open. A rush of water pushed it open the rest of the way and the other scrambled out of the way. Now look what you've done, Ezra exclaimed, picking up his carpetbag just before the water reached it. Youve flooded the Command Center. Sorry, Vin said, grinning sheepishly. I told you, Keenan grumbled, glaring at the water that now covered the floor. I said you didnt want to do that, but you did it anyway. Relax, Keenan, Chris said softly. Its just a little water. Keenan sighed and nodded. He looked toward Vin, then past him and his eyes widened. Trenton! he exclaimed. What are you doing here? Trying to get dry, the smaller man answered irritably. He turned to the man beside him and said, You should be labeled a health hazard. Josiah chuckled softly. Now, brother, is that any way to say thank you? he teased. Thank you, Trenton said in a monotone. Turning to the others, he said, I got caught in the storm and Josiah was forced to rescue me. Why are you angry at him then? Chris asked, shaking his head in confusion. Trenton rolled his eyes. He decided the best way to get me out of the tree I was trapped in was to knock it down. It makes so much sense when you put it like that, Keenan stated, nodding. Id be angry too. Close the door before you flood the room further, Ezra said irritably. The two agents stepped into the room and Josiah firmly shut the door against the deluge. The water level in the room was up to his knees and he frowned slightly. What do we do now? he asked. Wait until were rescued, Chris said. The water inside wont get any higher. Hopefully, Trenton added. Chris nodded. In the meantime, we can play a game or something, he stated, glancing over at Vin. I have an idea for a fun game, Josiah said softly. We can play eye-spy. Whatever, Keenan said morosely. The others nodded in agreement and soon the group was playing the childrens game. About the time they were beginning to get bored, Ezra exclaimed, Boat! Vin scowled. Now, Ezra, what kind of guess was that? Boat doesnt even begin with a t. The southerner looked at his teammate sharply and shook his head. That wasnt a guess! he all-but-shouted. Theres a boat outside the window! A boat! Chris said, turning to face the window that Ezra was pointing towards. Grinning, he sloshed through the knee-deep water and opened the window. Hello! he called out. Hey, Chris! the man on the boat replied. Mr. Wilmington? Ezra said incredulously. You you came to rescue us? Well, sure, Hoss, Buck said happily. Unless youd like to stick around Are you completely OUT OF YOUR MIND?!!! Keenan exclaimed, practically jumping out the window and onto the boat. Get me out of here! Sure thing, Buck answered, bending to help Chris aboard. It didnt take long to get the rest of the trapped agents out of the flooded Command Center and onto the large boat. Then Nathan, who was at the helm, turned it toward the nearest shelter. Thank you, Trenton said softly. Youre welcome, Agent Lark, Nathan replied, nodding politely. Josiah frowned. Youre far more gracious with them than you were with me, he said, smiling mischievously. Yes, well, Trenton said, smiling slightly. Their idea of helping was a little less terrifying than yours. Hmm, Josiah said thoughtfully. I suppose it was at that. Grinning broadly, he added, Ill never forget the look on your face though. Trenton merely rolled his eyes and curled up in the blanket Buck had given him. End. |
