| Wheezer and i went to Red Bank before the sun had even risen. I was experiencing so many emotions- it was all i could do to keep from crying! I planned to camp out at the hospital all day, i did not want to leave him alone. Dr. Salmiri brought him back for the endoscopy and i burst into tears! I was so anxious! Hours went by, and finally she came out, still dressed in her scrubs, and asked if she could speak with me- then she told me the miracle. She said she had been doing the endoscopy for hours, searching for the damage.....and shocked me to report that the only damage that she found was in his nasal cavity- not his throat! I was befuddled. She continued to describe how while he was unconcious, she searched down his trachea for the damage she herself had seen only a week earlier. Nothing. She then noticed that when she closed his mouth, Wheezer could not breathe; so she decided to scope down his nasal cavity, a procedure that she would not have done otherwise. She decribed to me how in the back of our nasal cavity, there is a membrane that has a hole in it to allow air and mucous to pass through (we all have had post-nasal drip, right?). Wheezer apparantly has a birth defect - his membrane has no opening. She asked me if i wanted her to correct this - and told me that not only is it an EXTREMEMLY rare condition, but that she herself had never seen anything like it. I asked her confusedly, "But what about his throat?" She replied shrugging that the damage was not in his throat. I asked again, "But,....the X-rays, the exams,....i don't understand". She only shook her head and said "The damage is gone. It is not there." I could not hold back my surprise and pure elation! I have never been a big believer in miracles...and now i have witnessed one firsthand. All your prayers, meditations and positive thoughts....it is the only answer any of us can come up with. His cartilage was CRUSHED- and now a week later, the damage is non-existant. And to make things even more intense....if the rings were still crushed, and he had gone under for the replacement surgery.....he would have had serious complications because of the unseen and unknown birth defect- he would have been unable to breathe during the procedure!!! It is like to miracles in one! And i thank you all, Wheezer's Angels, for it all! Love is an amazing thing! Now Wheezer and i reside in the lovely Chelsea area in New York City. He is like a kitten again! Purring, singing, and SNIFFING!!! He is still fascinated with all the scents the world is filled with and i have never seen him so happy! He sings like he thinks he is Pavoratti, plays like a kitten, sniffs like a bloodhound, and roars like a tiger! Please join my Save_My_Wheezer yahoo group for many updates on my miracle kitty! |
