The late Harry Hopman founded Heatherdale Tennis Club in 1966 at a public meeting and launch. Courts 1-4 were completed and ready for play by 1967 as the result of a hard working committee whose ideas and dreams still underpin the club today.

By 1983, the club boasted the 8 playing courts, 6 under lights and current Clubhouse including a lounge and bar facilities enjoyed by members in 2001.

The tradition of continuing to improve facilities for members continues with the latest upgrade of the kitchen and lighting on courts 7 and 8. Courts 1 and 2 where upgraded in the December holidays of 2001.

Ian Barclay coached at Heatherdale for a period of 14 years producing many great players including Pat Cash whose name appears on the honour board of Club Champions. 1991 - 1994 heralded the years of the successful Ladies State Grade Pennant Team including two premierships. Our current coach, Lisa Hartnett, was also a member of that team.

Heatherdale has achieved in its short history considerable success at all levels of competition and currently offers opportunities for participation in senior, junior, pennant, midweek ladies and night competitions.
