When I first came into this class, I had no idea what to expect. I had already taken English Grammar with Dr. Canada, and I thought that this class would be similar. In some ways it was but at the same time it was very different. The English Language is so much more than “grammar”. I was really interested in learning about the history of the language and the differences between old, middle, and modern English. I am sorry to say Dr. Canada, but I used to be one of those people that thought that Shakespeare was Old English. I know now that that is not the case. I have also learned to appreciate the language.
I really enjoyed the class presentations. This was my favorite part of the course. It was refreshing to be able to hear from my classmates and learn about their chosen topics. This put a new spin on learning. I thought that everyone did a great job on their presentations.
I also enjoyed working on my topic, “College Slang”. I had a blast! I will say that I had no idea that college slang was something that had been around so long. Who knew? And we thought we just started that!! I did not enjoy working on my actual portfolio. The essays were fine and very beneficial I might add, but I became very frustrated with the technical part. I had the hardest time publishing, and I still do not know how to do it from my house. And I still can’t figure out why my picture on my index page did not work. I did not have as much trouble with this in English Grammar. I must just not be holding my mouth right.
I also really
enjoyed you Dr. Canada. I think that you are a wonderful teacher
and you know how to really motivate your students. I really appreciated
your enthusiasm you added spunk to the course. I also would like
to thank you for being such a people person. You really do care about
your students. I guess that is that “Pembroke Personal Touch”, we
here so much about.
