The Proposal

Saturday, July 19, 2003: Heather had the day off of work and suggested we drive north to Lake Michigan, home of the Indiana Dunes and a decent beach, considering we are in the Midwest. Brad was hesitant, since he had plans of his own for the two of us. Heather knew that Brad would be popping the question, soon, so she didn't ask too many questions.

Being the flexible guy he is, Brad changed his plans to include a day at the beach.  We left that morning and arrived at the beach early afternoon. We just bummed around on the beach, played in the water, and enjoyed the summer day. The plan was that we would watch the sunset, and then we would go home. Or at least Heather thought we were going home. Heather thought Brad was going to propose on the beach, so when the sun had set and he had not asked, she was a little disappointed. Little did she know, Brad had made reservations at a bed and breakfast and had packed a bag for her for the next day.

Upon arriving at the bed and breakfast, we got ready to go out to dinner.  Brad gave Heather a big hug and kiss, and started saying, "I love you so much. You mean the world to me. I will love you forever, I promise.  Promise me you'll love me forever."  He then got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked Heather to marry him.  All she could say, trembling with excitement was, "Of course I will, honey!"

He asked; she said yes. And that's the story, folks.
