Pretty in pink

At time like these I sit and think
About all the little girls pretty in pink
They want to be cute and act with poise
At this point they couldnt care less about boys
Barbies, hopscotch, playing house and school
At this point they dont care if they are cool
The now age faster than they used to age,
And often complain about how their parents keep them caged
At age ten they want to be able to do more
Buy clothes from adult, more grown up stores
They run around and tank tops and really short shorts
The guys start to notice them and take interest instead of building forts
At age 12 they all have gotten boyfriends
They live this life that is all pretend
By 13 they all have had sex at least twice
Their parents thought it was too early to have the sex talk and give advice
Friends that were once friends arent friends anymore
I hate Kelly, shes not cool, and shes a stupid whore
No one ever really stops to think
What went wrong, what happened to the girls, pretty in pink?
In the society today kids grow up so fast
And their childhoods fly right past
Some one please tell me a way
To make them stay young and laugh and play
