April 2002

The last few months have been busy for our hectic little Heroine so lets have a month-by-month recap!

December brought an end to my very first post graduation class Business Algebra.  Should I pursue my MBA, I needed two math classes I didnt take for my undergraduate degree (ya gotta love being a Liberal Arts Major!)  So, back to school I went.  I am proud to say that despite tears and fears the first few weeks, I got an A in the class.  I also went home to Boise for two weeks (thanks to the Washington State Unemployment Fund!).  It was nice to spend some quality time at home, but I think I drove my Step Mother crazy!  Having ones adult children under ones nose can be a little disconcerting!  It was a wonderful trip home and I truly enjoyed having so much time to spend with everyone.

In January, I started working for Turner Construction in their Project Management Information Systems group.  I work on all sorts of fun projects and have a wonderful group to work with.  It has been a switch for me, however, to be working in this industry.  Its a new world, baby!  I do love my job and I even think my boss and I like each other most days (If Micky is reading this Im just joking!)

February, March and April have run together faster than you can say Supercalifragalisticexpealidotious.  Ive been working hard to learn the ropes at work.  I also took a Business Calculus class.  Remind me to NEVER go to school and work full time again, especially math!  It was a tough haul, but Im proud to say I came out with a 4.0.

I also took several ski lessons.  I know, I know I can hear you all in unison, Heather, our little Gracie (or lack thereof), skiing down a hill?  On real skis?  With real snow?  Does she have a death wish?  Does she not know that she is the Queen of Klutz and is going to kill herself?  My Dad said the same thing  But rest assured, Im doing this the right way and with the right protective gear.  The best thing is I love it!  Im hooked!  I actually got pretty good by the end of the season for someone with no free time.  I can make it down those easy hills pretty well.

Ive also visited my good friend Lori who is happily living in White Rock, BC.  She has rented a lovely little house just a few blocks from the beach (Im not jealous or anything) and I have had a ton of fun helping her decorate it and get back in the swing of being home sweet home.

My lovely big brother turned 30 on April 23rd.  His fiance (oh yeshes getting married!!) threw a great surprise party for him.  What a surprise it was!  I flew home for the weekend and Bree and I ran around Saturday getting decorations ready for the big event.  The poor guy thought everyone had forgotten his big 3 0.  He was a little shocked when he walked in the house after a work dinner to find all of his friends in his kitchen!  We partied until the wee hours of the morning (and lordy did I pay a price the next day..Im getting old, I tell you!).

Im sure Im over looking some exciting event that has happened in the last few months but that happens to your brain the older you get.  Im looking forward to the summer months, rollerblading and hiking and spending time with my friends outdoors crabbing with my friends Lynne and Dan, having Lori around as often as possible, reminding Sue Stone that I still do live in Seattle and introducing my mother to the wonderful city I call home.  Throw in a few trips home to see the clan and itll be an action packed summer, I have no doubt

So stay tunedour Heroines adventures will continue!
