Background Information
Passions is an American soap opera that first debuted on July 5, 1999, replacing the NBC soap opera Another World. Its themes were primarily built around supernatural elements and while those themes are still largely present, the show now uses drama and a lot of comedy (for example, parodies) to tell the characters' stories. The show takes place in the fictional town of Harmony. This small, seaside town is found in the New England area of the United States. Due to the direct access to water, many of the show's storylines have taken the characters "out to sea," as in an earlier episode involving a disaster of a prom on a boat. Common locales for Passions plots include the Blue Note, a jazz club where residents can enjoy the soulful stylings of Dr. Eve Russell and sometimes, her daughter Whitney. Harmony residents are also found by the docks, usually alone, either grieving a loss or meeting a member of a drug cartel. Formal occasions require a trip to the Seascape, a fine dining restaurant while more casual outings take place at the Lobster Shack. The Crane mansion is another popular location, and many of the most memorable storylines have begun or unfolded here. Finally, as Passions is filled with medical trauma and crime, Harmony Hospital and the Harmony Police Department present settings for various storylines.

Left: Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald threatens J.T. Cornell, a tabloid editor, to prompt him to reveal a secret that could reunite Theresa with her true love, Ethan. J.T. knows that Gwen (Ethan's current wife) and Rebecca (Gwen's mother) were the ones who sent information to the tabloid, exposing Ethan's true paternity. They framed Theresa for it in order for Ethan to go back to Gwen. Theresa has been involved in many schemes in which she attempts to win Ethan, including marrying Alistair Crane (Ethan's grandfather) to gain access to the Crane empire and Alistair's powers of persuasion.
Right: Whitney and Chad enjoy a morning together at Chad's apartment. They are a happy couple until they discover that Chad (not knowing who his parents are) is actually the son of Julian Crane and Eve (Whitney's mother). Thus, he and Whitney are half-sibings! The down side to this is of course, that Chad and Whitney can no longer date one another (although Chad still declares his love on some occasions making for awkward moments). The up side is that Chad is a Crane, therefore has access to the wealth this family holds.
