Days of our Lives is an American soap opera that has been running since its debut on November 8, 1965. The show originally centered on the Horton Family, but has since expanded to introduce many other character and family storylines. The town of Salem is the setting for this soap opera, though the state in which Salem is found is never mentioned. Viewers, however, are aware that Salem is located somewhere in the Midwestern United States. Although it is interesting to note that Salem has been shown to have direct access to tropical waters and thus, tropical islands on which characters such as Abe Carver, Maggie Horton and Marlena Evans have been deserted a time or two.
Common settings for the show include The Brady pub, where family celebrations usually occur, and Chez Rouge, a gourmet restaurant at which formal events take place. Other notable locations are the Salem Police Department, where Bo Brady, Roman Brady and Abe Carver can be found solving the latest crime and Salem University Hospital, where Marlena is probably recovering from her most recent catastrophe.

A couple of years ago, for example, when Marlena and Roman were thought to be dead, their mourning spouses John and Kate consoled each other by, what else, sleeping together! Marlena and Roman were actually being held captive by Tony DiMera, Stefano's son on an island, where they too were consoling each other (ie. sleeping together). |

Above: The Phoenix, Stefano DiMera is the most well-known villian in Days of our Lives history. He has being involved in kidnapping, brainwashing and mind control, drug trafficking, raising private mercenary armies, and many other evil plots. Stefano is also known for his many "deaths" such as being set on fire by Princess Gina in 1999, drowning near Maison Blanche in Paris in 1994, and more recently being killed by Tony DiMera. He has yet to resurrect himself from his most recent "death." |
