12/4/03 6:11 pm Once again, it has been a long time since I have written. The last month has been pretty busy. The semester is finally winding down. I had my last o-chem test a couple weeks ago, and I got a 75! The average was in the 50's I think, I honestly don't remember what it was....but I know I did better than most people! :-) I also just finished up a genetics group project and got that submitted today. Tomorrow is the last day of classes, I have a sport psych test, but it should be very easy. And I only need to get like a 9 out of 20 to get an A in the class anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. And then I just have to go to hand in my last o-chem lab and I'm done!! Last week was Thanksgiving break, it was really nice to go home. My mom and grandmother came to visit me back in October, but other than them, I haven't seen any of my family since August. Tim and I left here on Tuesday afternoon. We got a ride home with my mom's friend (actually my mom's friend's daughter) who lives here in Troy, I've mentioned her in some previous entries. Anyway, we got home around 9:30 Tuesday night and had a very busy week! Tim came to my house for the vacation. On Tuesday Tim and I took my sister shopping in Portland. We went to a ton of stores and went out to lunch at the Olive Garden. Wednesday night my mom cut and dyed my hair for me and I did some baking. Tim got a hair cut too. For Thanksgiving on Thursday, we went to my grandparent's house for dinner, and then later in the day we went to visit with some of my mom's family. On Friday my aunt, uncle, and cousins came up from Massachusetts. We (our family, my grandparents, and two sets of my aunts and uncles) went to cut down our Christmas tree, and then everyone came back to our house for lunch afterward. On a side note, my sister's chickens have begun to lay eggs! It's fun to go out and collect them in the evening, and they are really yummy! On Friday night, my dad, my sister and I went to Augusta for the Moody Blues concert. It was very good, they played some songs from their new Christmas CD. A very good time indeed. Saturday we lounged around the house for a while and then Tim and I went to Brunswick to visit with his family. We went out to dinner with his parents and didn't get home till pretty late. Then Sunday we came back to school, arriving around 9:30 Sunday night. It was a very busy vacation, but very fun! Definitely not long enough. I haven't really had much work to do this week since I've been back, it's been nice. As I said, tomorrow is the last day of classes, then we have Monday and Tuesday off (they are supposed to be "study days" but I don't think anyone actually studies......I know I will be going to the mall and the movies on Tuesday). Then finals start on Wednesday and go until next Tuesday (the 16th) and then the 17th I'm home for Christmas break! I can't wait!!
11/7/03 9:47 pm Not a lot has happened since the last time I wrote. On Halloween Tim and I went to Alison's house (see previous entry). It was fun, and it was really nice to get out of the dorms for a while. We had pizza and salad for dinner. Then we helped the kids get dressed up. Tim and I dressed up in our scrubs! Then Tim and I took the kids out trick-or-treating for a while around their neighborhood. Then we went back to the house and we drove around to a few more places. Before coming back to school we went to Stewart's, a convenience store, because they give out free ice cream cones to anyone dressed up in a costume. Then we came back to the dorm and didn't do much else for the rest of the night. I didn't really do much else for the rest of the weekend. Saturday night we went to see The Matrix Reloaded here on campus. It was good. I'd heard a lot of people say that it wasn't very good, but I enjoyed it. This week was pretty uneventful. I didn't have any tests for once. I did finally give my webpage a little bit of a new look though. Hopefully I can get a lot more work done on it soon.
10/31/03 11:39 am Things have been unbelievably busy for me lately. I've been meaning to write, but haven't gotten around to it...when I finally have a few free minutes, I just don't feel like updating my page, or doing much of anything really. Let's see....Two weeks ago I had a genetics test and a sport psych test. I got a 92.5 on the genetics test, I was very excited, because I did terrible on the first test. I got a 100 on the sport psych test, that is the easiest, best class ever! Last Monday I had an o chem test. I was very worried about it, but I got a 77, and the class average was a 57, so I did pretty darn good! I also handed it back in for a regrade for a few questions, so I could even end up with an 80! Wow! My mom came to visit me last week. She has to work weekends, so she came to visit during the week. She got here on Tuesday. We went out to a late lunch at the Plum Blossom (Chinese), it was very tasty. We then went next door to Maselli's bakery, where they have wonderful conollis. My grandmother came too. After lunch we took Tim back to school and then went to the hotel so they could check in. We then went to Albany so I could order some new glasses. I have contacts, but sometimes I really just need glasses, and my other pair is really old and the perscription is very out of date, so I went and got some nice new ones. They arrived in the mail this week and I like them pretty well. Anyway, after that we went to the Latham Circle Mall and went shopping at Burlington Coat Factory. We then returned to school so my mom could cut Tim's hair because he had an interview the next day. By then it was about 8:00 pm, so we returned to the hotel for the night. The next morning we went to Friendly's for breakfast and then went to Price Chopper and WalMart. They brought me back to school around 11:30 and then left for home. It was a good visit and nice to get off campus for the night. Last Friday night Tim and I went to see Pirates of the Carribean here on campus. It was very funny and entertaining, a nice way to end a stressful week. It seems like it would be a kid's movie, but it really isn't....it was hillarious. I highly recommend it. Today is Halloween!! My mom has an old friend whose daughter lives here in Troy, and she has four little kids, so Tim and I are going out trick-or-treating with them. I think we will dress up in scrubs, just for fun. So that should be a fun evening. I'll take lots of pictures. Speaking of pictures, I updated the chicken pictures page, so go check it out! Have a Happy Halloween!!
10/11/03 8:23 pm It's finally the long weekend! And it is definitely much needed. This week wasn't too bad. Tuesday night I had to go to a mentor meeting for planning Design Your Future Day, which takes place in March. I signed up to be on the registration committee. At least the meeting was very short, which was good because I had lots of homework to do. I really didn't do much for the rest of the week. Last night Tim and I went to the Latham Circle Mall to the movies to see Under the Tuscan Sun. We got there early so we did a little shopping first. I went to JCPenney and got some new jeans. I also went to the sporting goods store and got some five pound weights so I can get my arms in shape! Then we went to CVS and got water and candy corn for the movie. We also got popcorn when we got to the movie. It was a very good movie....very funny and cute...I highly recommend it, even if you're a guy! It's not that much of a chick flick! Tim enjoyed it! Anyway, we got back from the movie around 10 and got to bed around 11. I slept in nice and late today and had a waffle for breakfast. Then I did o chem reading all freaking day and I still have more to do! Ugh!! I hate that class. I did not get all the work done today that I wanted to get done. Oh well, at least I get two more days to do work this weekend instead of just one. I don't have any plans for the rest of the weekend, just doing homework. I have a genetics test on Wednesday, a sport psych test on Friday, and an o chem test next Monday, so I have lots of studying to do. I got in the Halloween spirit and made my page very festive! Halloween is so fun!
10/4/03 10:11 pm What a crappy week it has been!! I thought nothing could be as bad as last week, but I was wrong. Somehow I ended up with a huge load of work to do. I did get an 18/20 on my sport psych test last week though. Wednesday Tim and I went to the career fair. There were not so many biology companies there though. I gave one company my resume, but I don't think I will ever actually work there. When I arrived at o chem on Thursday, the professor decided to tell us that the lab on the syllabus was incorrect, so the pre lab I had done for Friday was wrong, so I had to redo the whole thing Thursday night. I was not happy. Thursday evening Tim and I went to a lecture about company recruiting and interview tips. Last night Tim and I went to see Finding Nemo!! It was pretty funny. Afterward we went to Ben and Jerry's. I got a chocolate covered waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles on it. I got chunky monkey and new york super fudge chunk. Tim told me I was discusting, but I thought it was very tasty. Today there was another career fair on campus, much bigger than the one on Wednesday. Tim and I went to that from 10-12ish. There were not so many biology companies at this career fair either, but Tim handed out lots of resumes, so hopefully he'll get a job. He needs a job more than me anyway. After the career fair we went to the bookstore and got sandwiches. I did a little bit of homework and then took a two hour nap....so I had a very unproductive day. I did a little more homework after dinner, but mostly just watched TV. Now I'll have lots of work to catch up on tomorrow. Oh well.
9/29/03 2:48 pm I can't believe I haven't updated for a month!! Where has the time gone?? Last year I was so good at updating my webpage, I did it every day almost. This semester is turning out to be a huge challenge. I don't have time for anything anymore. Homework consumes all of my time. Not fun. Organic chemistry is by far my hardest class, it's a nightmare!!! We are expected to read every page of the textbook. Ugh. We had our first test last week, I got a 76. However, the average was only in the 60's, so I really didn't do that badly. The grades at the end of the semester will be scaled, so that's the only thing that's going to save me. Since homework consumes my life, I don't have anything exciting to write about. On Saturday Tim and I went shopping to get some new clothes for the upcoming career fairs this week. Tim will be looking for a full time job (he's done with school in December) and I'm trying to find an internship for the summer. Anyway, RPI expects us to get all freaking dressed up for these dumb career fairs. I went to Burlington Coat Factory and got a new pair of black pants (I've dropped two pant sizes by the way!!), a white button up shirt, a black suit jacket type thing, a scarf, a belt, and some nylons. I spent more money than I probably should have, but oh well. At least I'll look good! :-) I also went to Payless and got three new pairs of shoes (no, I really don't need that many new shoes, but they were having a buy 2, get one free sale! how can you pass up such a bargain??). We also went to JCPenny so Tim could get a suit. We also went to the grocery store and stocked up on food. Overall, it was a productive shopping day. Upon returning to school we tried on all our new outfits, did a little homework, ate dinner (including ice cream sundaes!), and then went to the on-campus movie to see Bend It Like Beckham. It was quite funny and overall a good movie. It did take a while to be able to understand their British accents, but once you got used to it, it wasn't so bad. The ER premiere was on Thursday. It was quite a disappointment. I am very close to labeling Alias as my favorite TV show and bumping ER down to #2. Hopefully it will improve as the season continue. Speaking of Alias, last night was the premiere and it was thrilling!! It's going to be a wonderful season. Also on last night was the premiere of American Dreams, which was also good. I didn't lose any more weight this week, which was not surprising because I was not so good about sticking to my diet. I have now, however, lost a total of 21 pounds since starting weight watchers. I will have to try to go to the gym more this week. I guess that's all my exciting news for now. I promise I will try to update more frequently....and I really mean it this time!!
8/31/03 9:49 pm I meant to write sooner but the week just got away from me! The first week of classes went pretty well. I think it's going to be a pretty hard semester, but hopefully I'll get through it. Organic chemistry is going to be really hard, and genetics will probably be pretty hard too. And the professor is soooo dull! Intro to Logic shouldn't be too hard, but not very interesting. I think the only class I'm going to really like is sport psychology, it's really easy and the professor is great! So anyway, my classes should keep me busy. I also signed up to join the RPI ambulance. I'll go to a few classes and get trained to be an attendant and get to ride along in the ambulance! I won't get to do much at first, but I will eventually if I keep doing training classes. Things are going well with my roommate. She's nice and easy to live with. Our room is nice, we have our own bathroom, so that's great! I've only managed to make it to the gym twice since I've been back at school, but I'll do better next week....really I will! As some of you may already know, I've been doing weight watchers since the beginning of June, and I've lost 17 pounds so far (3 in the last week)!! Yey me!! Tim just started doing it with me this week and he's already lost 4 pounds! We have tomorrow off because of Labor day, which is great! I really needed an extra day this weekend. I have so much reading to catch up on for my classes. Friday night Tim and I went to see Chicago, it was pretty good. Yesterday I didn't do much, just homework, and the same today. Tomorrow will probably be just more homework. Tuesday is Tim's birthday, so hopefully we can find something fun to do. And poo to all of you who don't have to start classes until the 2nd!!
8/24/03 4:12 pm I can't believe I haven't updated my webpage for two months! My summer was very busy. I did make quite a bit of money, which was good, but it was very tiring and I didn't have time for anything other than work! I did have my wisdom teeth pulled near the beginning of August. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was scared of the IV, but it didn't hurt at all. I didn't even have to take any of the perscription painkillers they gave me. The worst part of the whole thing was that my mouth was numb for like 8 hours afterward. Oh well. Other end-of-the-summer highlights include an all day shopping trip with my sister, a trip to Aquaboggon (a waterpark) with my mom and my sister, and a Seadogs game with Tim and his family (his parents, his brother Kevin, and Kevin's fiance Jill. And the Seadogs won the game! We didn't end up staying for the whole thing, but there was no score after we left, so we didn't miss anything. I arrived back at RPI on Friday (the 22nd). It took me quite a while to get all my crap unpacked and organized. I managed to find a place for everything. The bed I have does not agree with the bed-leg raisers that I have, so I have absolutely no under the bed storage. The bed is only about 4 inches off the floor, so I can't fit anything under there. Oh well. And the light on my side of the room is broken, so for now all I have is my pole lamp with three bulbs, which isn't so helpful at night when it's dark. Hopefully someone will come to fix the light tomorrow. Friday night after I arrived, my family and I and Tim went out to dinner at Friendly's and then went to the grocery store and WalMart to stock up on last minute necessities. Yesterday I didn't do much. I got up around 9 and did some more unpacking. In the afternoon Tim and I went over to the bookstore and got all our books. The rest of the afternoon I just sat around and tried to organize my room and stuff. At 9 we went to the free movie on campus and saw Daredevil. It was pretty good. I only wanted to see it because it has Jennifer Garner in it. Today I also haven't done much of anything. Classes start tomorrow. I'm not really looking forward to that, but oh well. Now that I'm back at school I will hopefully be able to update my webpage everyday.
6/23/03 4:40 pm I haven't been very good about writing this summer. I've been so busy with my two jobs that I hardly have time for anything! Let's see, I'll try to fill you in on the past few weeks....On June 5th I headed to Limestone for graduation. I picked up Alison and Adrienne and they both went with me. We got there in the afternoon and attended the memorial service for Mr. Innes. On Friday we went to Caribou and visited with a friend. Friday night was the senior awards/slide show event. After that we just hung around in the dorm visiting for the night. Graduation was on Saturday. It was nice. Not too long, and the weather was good. It wasn't very sunny, but it didn't rain and the bugs were not too bad, which was a relief. We came home Saturday afternoon after graduation (because I had to get up bright and early to go to work on Sunday morning). Since then I haven't really done much. Last week I went to the drive-in with some of my friends from work. We saw 2 Fast 2 Furious (which wasn't all that bad, much better than I was expecting) and Bruce Almighty (which was also much better than I was expecting). I've attended several of my sister's end of the year concerts and award ceremonies and such. I went to the eye doctor and the dentist. And other than that I have just been working. Up until now the restaurant has just been doing breakfast, but Saturday we started doing lunch too. I was just starting to get the hang of it, and now it's going to change again! I think I have been doing an okay job. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing horrible, but I make quite a few tips, so I guess I can't be that bad. Now that the restaurant is open full time I'll be working there five days a week, and at Subway nights and the two days I'm not working at the restaurant. Saturday I had the whole day off, which was very nice. We went to a family wedding (my mom's cousin's son). It was alright. It was a really nice day out, it's too bad the wedding couldn't have been outside. Oh well. Tonight I'm going out with friends (I think we're going to play pool...that should be an adventure) and tomorrow I have the whole day off again, so my mom and I are going to the ocean to get a tan. Hopefully the weather will be good!
6/2/03 7:52 pm My mom is in the process of highlighting my hair, so I'm going to have to make this pretty quick. But since I haven't updated in like a week, I figured I would write something. Last weekend I started my waitressing job. It went well, I got the hang of it very quickly and I think I am doing a good job. The first day the restaurant was not very busy, so it was a good pace for me to start. I've done pretty well in tips each day. I worked at the restaurant last Satruday, Sunday, and Monday (memorial day). I had Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday off, so Tim came over for a visit. Tuesday I went to pick him up in Brunswick. Wednesday we went into Portland to do some shopping and stuff. I had to get a new pair of shorts for waitressing. We ate lunch at Ruby Tuesday. Thursday I drove Tim back to Brunswick. Friday I worked at Subway. Saturday and Sunday I worked at the restaurant and at Subway. I was pretty tired after that. Saturday I had to open at the restaurant, so I had to get up at 5....yuck! I'm not used to that. And today I had the day off! Yey! I was very lazy...I didn't even get up till 11, and I did nothing productive all day besides doing one load of laundry. Oh well, I didn't have anything I needed to get done anyway. Tomorrow I work at Subway, and then I am probably going out in the evening with some friends from work to do something. Thursday I am leaving for Limestone to go to graduation! So I will probably not have another chance to write until after I get back.
5/23/03 8:46 pm I have not been very good at writing on my webpage since I've been at home. Oh well. The past few days have been uneventful. I am still not feeling very well. I came down with a cold or something on Saturday night and I still don't feel completely better. Hopefully I will be back to normal in the next few days. Wednesday I had the day off from work. I didn't do much, just sat around the house. My dad and I went to the bank and the grocery store, but that was about it. Yesterday I worked at Subway from 10-1:30. I was supposed to work until 3, but it wasn't busy. Around 3:45 I left with my mom, and we went over to her friend's house so my mom could do her hair. While we were there I loaded the Sims into my laptop. After we left we went and got pizza for dinner and then went to my aunt's house to do more hair (my mom's a hairdresser for those of you who don't know). We didn't get home till almost 10. Today I worked at Subway from 12-7 (again, I got sent home early because it wasn't busy...I was supposed to work till 8). Since I've been home I haven't done much. My dad is at work, he won't be home till around 12, and my mom is out for the night with friends, and my sister is spending the night at my grandparent's house. So I'm all alone. When I got home I took care of my sister's chickens and fed her rabbit for her, and then I ate my Subway sandwich, and then I played the Sims for a while. What an exciting evening. Tomorrow I start my waitressing job!! I have to be there at 8. I'm a little nervous, but hopefully I'll do okay. I work there until around 3, and then I work at Subway from 4-9. I'm also working both jobs on Sunday and Monday. What a busy weekend!
5/20/03 I added some new chicken pictures today! Go look!
5/20/03 6:40 pm I had a pretty uneventful weekend. Saturday night I started not feeling very well. My mom and sister both had colds, so I figured that's what I caught too. All day Sunday and Monday I felt pretty awful. It's no fun being sick. I didn't really do much. I just laid around, hoping that I would feel better. Sunday my dad and I went to my grandparent's house for a little while to see some relatives who were in Maine for a visit. My mom and sister came home from Massachusetts on Sunday afternoon. On Monday I went out in the afternoon to do some errands and I picked up my sister at school. Around 6:15 I went with my mom and sister to my sister's end of the year Girl Scout ceremony thing. That's about it. Today I worked at Subway from 11-4. I was hoping that I would feel better, but I don't really. Hopefully tomorrow. I have tomorrow off, so I will have to get rested up and hopefully get better because I am working at Subway on Thursday and Friday, and I am waitressing and working on Subway on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. So by Monday night I am going to be very tired. I guess that is all for now.
5/17/03 7:58 pm I've had such a busy week! On Thursday I worked at Subway from 10-3. It was pretty uneventful. At 3 I left and picked my sister up at school, and then we went to Bridgton to pick up her six baby chickens! They are so cute. They are all different colors, with names that sort of match their color...their names are Strawberry, Sunshine, Snowball, Midnight, Starlight, and Cocoa. They don't really like to be picked up and played with too much, which is kind of disappointing because they are just so darn cute you just want to hold them all the time! When I go to stick my hand in the box to check the thermometer or something they all start shrieking and running everywhere. Hopefully they will get friendlier. Anyway...if you haven't already checked out the pictures I have posted, go look at them! Thursday night was the ER season finale!! It was not the best episode I have ever seen, but it was better than I thought it was going to be. Yesterday I worked at Subway from 12-8:30. I was supposed to be done at 8, but it was so busy she had me stay an extra half hour. Today I worked from 11-7. After I got home I had to clean out the chicken box and get them fresh water because my mom and sister went to my aunt and uncle's house in Massachusetts for the night. So I'm in charge of taking care of the chickens. I have tomorrow and Monday off, so I am going to sleep lots. I don't really have any other plans. Hopefully I can find something to do. Maybe I will post some more pictures of the chickens.
5/14/03 2:06 pm It's been a few days since I have written. Monday was my first day working at Subway (well, my first day of the summer... I worked there last summer too). I worked from 11-6:30. I was supposed to work until 7, but it wasn't busy, so I got to leave. The day was pretty uneventful. I remembered pretty much everything about working there, so I didn't really need to relearn much. After I got home I didn't do much for the rest of the night. Yesterday and today I didn't have to work, so I have just been sitting around the house not doing much. Yesterday I don't think I did anything besides play games on the computer and unpack a little bit. Today I did laundry. Maybe later I will do the dishes before my mom gets home. I guess that's all my news for now...things are pretty boring around here. I'll be working at Subway tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. My sister is supposed to be getting her six baby chickens sometime in the next few days, so I'll post news about that when they come, and I'll try to get some pictures up. They are going to be so cute!
5/11/03 7:21 pm Today was another busy day! I got up around 8 this morning, and around 9 we left for church. We stopped at my grandparent's house on the way to drop of mother's day gifts for my grandmother. After church we went out to lunch with both sets of grandparents. Then we rushed off to my sister's dance recital. It was slightly boring at times, but very entertaining at other times. Watching the 4 year olds trying to perform a rehearsed dance in sync is very amusing. There was one little girl (adorable little blond with pig tails) who had no idea what was going on...half the time she just stood there staring off into space and the other half of the time she was waving and yelling to her mom. It was quite entertaining. Anyway, the recital was done around 3:45. We stopped for ice cream on the way home (I'm going to gain a lot of weight this summer if we keep getting ice cream every day!!). I had cookies and cream. Once I got home I didn't do much. I did some more unpacking (I almost have everything moved out of the living room and into my room) and I played the Sims (for those of you who haven't already noticed, I'm slightly addicted). And that's about all I've done. Later I'll watch American Dreams and maybe do some more unpacking.
5/10/03 8:28 pm I'm home for the summer! It feels great...sleeping in my own bed, eating real food, everything about being home is wonderful...although I do miss Tim already. I got home yesterday around 5:15. The trip home was pretty uneventful. We left school at 11. We stopped around 12:30 on the highway at McDonald's for lunch. I got a fruit and yogurt parfait and some fries. We stopped again when we got into Maine. My mom and I both went to Cinnabon and got cafe mochas, they were yummy! I also got some cinnamon bun stick things which were also tasty. When I got home we unloaded everything from the cars and it all just got dumped in the living room. So now I have to work on making space in my room and getting it all in there. I also played the Sims some last night...oh how I have missed that game! This morning I got up around 8 and left the house around 9. First I took my sister to her dress rehersal for her dance recital that is tomorrow. Then we went to Friendly's for lunch. After that we went to WalMart, the Dollar Tree, a pet store, and then to the grocery store. On the way home we stopped for ice cream...I had red raspberry jazz frozen yogurt, it was good. When we got home I played the Sims some more and then around 5:30 I made dinner (my favorite meal in the whole world, a wonderful pasta/broccoli/alfredo sauce dish). I don't think it came out as well as when my mom makes it, but it was still wonderful and so much better than anything they give us in the dining hall at school. After dinner I did a little more unpacking. And that about wraps up my day. Tomorrow will be another busy day!
5/8/03 7:56 pm I'm going home tomorrow!! Yesterday I spent the day being lazy. We watched Maid in Manhattan and Save the Last Dance. I did some more packing in the afternoon, and got mostly everything ready. We also went to get smoothies yesterday afternoon, yum! Today I didn't do much. Around 2 Tim and I headed over to my room so I could get the last of my stuff packed up. Around 3:30 my mom and grandparents arrived. We packed most of my stuff into the cars. Around 4:30 we left to go out to dinner. We went to Holmes and Watson. Tim and I got mozzerella sticks, and I had a veggie burger and some fries. It was pretty good. After dinner we went to Maseli's bakery to get dessert...they have the yummiest stuff! I got a chocolate horn, something that had cream and almonds in it, and two small conollis. Then Tim and I returned to school and my mom and grandparents returned to their hotel. I've just been watching TV and I helped Tim pack a little. My mom will be back at 10 tomorrow morning to finish loading the cars and then we're heading home!!!
5/6/03 6:09 pm I'M DONE!!!! I'M DONE!!! I'M DONE!!!!! WAHOO!!!! The semester is finally over for me. I had my chem final this morning at 8 (which was my only final). It wasn't too hard, I think I did fine on it, and I think I will have an A in the class. I also got back the two tests that I took last Monday...I got an 83 on my chem test and a 78 on my bio test. I have a B in bio for the semester, so that is exciting. The past few days have been pretty uneventful. I spent yesterday and Sunday mostly just studying for my chem final, and I watched some TV and other various things. Today after my final I went to work study for 3 hours, and then I went out to lunch at McDonald's with the girls. I got back to my room around 2:30 and started packing. I have way too much stuff, packing takes me forever! You would think that after being at a boarding school for three years already that I would have learned what I really don't need to bring with me, but apparently not. Hopefully I can pack less stuff next year. Oh well. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night being completely lazy cuz I'M DONE AND IT FEELS WONDERFUL!!!!! :-)
5/3/03 9:08 pm The last two days have been uneventful. Yesterday after breakfast (well, I guess it isn't really breakfast anymore when it's at 11) Tim and I went to the union to pick up our pay checks, then to the bank, then to the health center to pick up my prescription. When we got back I did some chem studying. Later in the afternoon we watched The Matrix. I had never seen it before, it was good. Then I did some more chem studying...I got my crib sheet all done, but I didn't really get anything else accomplished. Oh well. After dinner I just watched some TV and hung around. Today I didn't make it out of bed until almost 11 (I'm so lazy!). I was really good and did lots of chem studying today! This afternoon we watched Moulin Rouge...I love that movie!!! After dinner I studied chem some more, and around 8 I gave up and watched some TV. Only six more days until I'm home for the summer!! Yey!!!
5/1/03 9:58 pm It's finally May!! Today was another uneventful day. I was very lazy and didn't get up till about 10:30. I pretended to study chemistry a little today, but I didn't get very far. At around 12:30 I went over to my chem professor's office to pick up my test, but he still didn't have them!! I'm really starting to get mad! After that Tim and I went to Wal Mart. I got some white sneakers for work this summer and some birthday presents for my sister. When we got back we went to the union and got smoothies. Then I pretended to study chemistry some more. At 7 I went to a review for the chem final. I didn't think it was all that helpful, but oh well. Tomorrow I really need to buckle down and get some studying done...and maybe watch a few movies....Now it's almost time for a new ER!! Everybody should be watching!!!
4/30/03 9:58 pm Today was officially the last day of classes for the semester! I was done yesterday though. I had a doctor's appointment this morning at 10 (no, I'm not sick, just a check up). After that I went over to my chem professor's office, because he said he would have our tests, but he did not. Argh!! I'll have to go back Friday, hopefully he'll have them by then. I got to work study at about 11. I worked till 1 and then went to lunch with the girls. Tim came with us today! They were all very excited to meet him. I came back to my room around 2, and did some laundry and just sat around my room. Around four I came over to Tim's room. At 5 we went to dinner. It was the night of the annual Spring Fling. It was a rather scary event. They had one of those giant balloon things set up on the lawn, the ones you go in and jump around in at fairs. They had all sorts of other scary things too, including a riding bull thingie and a dunk tank and pie in the face. Anyway, the dining hall was closed because of this event, so we had to go to get dinner. I had a veggie burger and pasta salad and some cookies. We brought our food back here to Tim's room to eat as there was no seating or anything outside, and I didn't feel like sitting on the ground. After dinner I did absolutely nothing for the rest of the night. I watched TV and sat on my butt. Tomorrow I need to not be so lazy and start studying for my chem final.
4/29/03 10:22 pm Classes are done!! Technically tomorrow is the last day of classes, but I don't have any classes on Wednesdays, so I'm done! It feels great. Just one final next week and I'm out of here! Today was pretty uneventful. My only class was chem this morning...they made us do a lab on the last day, how mean is that?? After that I went to work study. At 1 I went out to lunch at Pizza Hut with the girls. We got back at 2, and I left work study at 3 to go meet Tim. We went to Ben and Jerry's for Free Cone Day!! I got brownie batter...yum yum yum. Then I returned to my room and did absolutely nothing for the rest of the day (okay, well I did some stuff, but absolutely nothing productive). I feel like it's too early to start packing, and I don't want to start studying for my final yet...so I was just lazy. I'll try to start studying tomorrow. I couldn't sleep last night, so I'm extremely tired (not as tired as yesterday though...when I arrived at my chem test yesterday morning, I realized my shirt was on backwards...what a dork I am!!!). Anyway, I'm still tired, so it's time for bed.
4/28/03 12:12 pm I managed to survive my two tests. My chem test was alright. There were four questions, and I knew how to do three of them. The one I didn't know how to do was worth 30 points though. I wrote down some stuff, so hopefully I can get some partial credit. I think I need to do pretty well on this test to get an A in the class (depending on how I do on the final...but I would like to leave myself a little room so I don't have to do really really well on the final). Anway...the bio test was okay too. I don't think I did really well, but I don't think I failed. I probably got something in the 70's. Oh well, it is all over and that is all I care about. Hopefully I can get a B in bio. Our four tests are worth 65% of our grade, and the lab is worth 35%, which kinda sucks because I did really well in the lab but I suck at the tests. I'll just have to wait and see. I didn't have to go to physics class today, becuase it is just a review for the final, and I am not taking the final. I just picked up my test and got to leave, so now it is only 12:15 and I am done for the day! I don't have to go to methods of reasoning this afternoon because I'm not taking the final. All I have to do for work this afternoon is a quick chem lab, and then I plan on doing nothing but relaxing and sleeping for the rest of the day. Yey for the end of the semester!
4/27/03 9:01 pm This has been the longest weekend of my life. Actually, it has gone by too fast. All I have done all weekend is study for the two tests I have tomorrow, but I still feel like I know nothing. I have a chem and a bio test tomorrow, and they are both going to be really hard. I am going to be up all night studying. I find out that I got a 77 on the physics test I took on Friday night, and I have a B in the class. I would have to get a 94 on the final to get an A, and I really don't think I can do that well, so I think I am going to skip the final and keep my B. So now I only have one final (chemistry, on May 6th), which is exciting. Yesterday and today were boring, all I did was study. Now it's time to take a break to watch Alias, and then it's back to studying....till the wee hours of the morning, I'm sure. Tomorrow at 11:20 it will all be over.....
4/25/03 9:55 pm I would usually be excited that it's the weekend, but this weekend is going to suck. Yesterday was alright. We convinced the methods of reasoning professor to make the final optinal, so I don't have to take it! I think I will have an A anyway. Today I only had one class, but I had to come back and study all afternoon for my physics test. Yuck! At about 5:15 Tim and I went to dinner and then I headed to my test. It was kind of yucky, I don't think I did really well...I probably passed though. After the test I met Tim and we went to see Catch Me If You Can. It was pretty good. After the movie we went to Ben and Jerry's. I got a strawberry shake...yum yum yum. Now I must spend the rest of the weekend preparing for the two tests I have on Monday (at least it is only 2 now, since the methods of reasoning final was cancelled). I am way too tired to study anymore tonight, so I am going to get ready for bed so I can be nice and refreshed for a long day of studying tomorrow. Goodnight!
4/23/03 10:59 pm What a busy day! I'm exhausted! I got up shortly after 8 this morning and headed to the gym. At 9:20 I met Tim for breakfast. After breakfast I started my laundry and took a shower. I did some physics studying and finished my laundry and headed to work study around 11:45. At 1 I went to lunch with the girls, and returned to work study at 2. I stayed until 3:30, and then returned to my room. I meant to do some more studying, but that didn't happen. At about 4:15 I went to get some dinner and then headed to the dreaded bio poster session. It wasn't too bad. We got a 98 on our paper and a 97 on our poster. George, the big scary guy in charge of all the labs, actually liked our poster, and it is going to join the other good posters on the wall outside the lab! Anyway, I am glad that is over. I returned to my room around 6:45, and then went to see the physics tutor in my dorm at 7. I got my physics homework all done, and then returned to my room and did my chem lab that's due Friday. At about 9 I gave up and watched TV. Now I need to do some reading before bed.
4/22/03 10:28 pm This week has been uneventful so far. Yesterday was just like any other Monday. My chem quiz was very easy. Physics class was deathly boring, as usual. Methods of reasoning got out very early, which was exciting. I met with my bio group at 7, we had to make our poster for our project. It ended up taking almost 2 hours, but we got it done. Today I tried to give blood, but my iron was too low, which was disappointing. The last two times I have gone to give blood my iron has been okay, but not this time...maybe that's why I'm so tired all the time. Anyway, bio lab this afternoon was very short. We just had to finish cleaning up all our crap from the semester. Tomorrow night we have a poster session, which is the biggest waste of two hours I have ever seen. All the groups from all the lab sections set up their posters in the alumni house, and we just stand there for two hours. Theoretically people are supposed to come look at our posters, but nobody does. Why would they? They all suck and everybody does the same experiments! Ugh! Oh well. I will be doing that tomorrow night. Tonight I actually got some homework done, and then I did some work on my page. The ER pictures section is finally working! I know, most of you don't find that exciting, but I love ER!! Anyway, now I should probably get in bed so I can be nice and awake tomorrow to do lots of physics studying!
4/20/03 10:58 pm Happy Easter! The weather was lovely here today, not too hot, about 70, sunny...perfect. I went to church this morning, we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids after. They are so cute. I got back at about 12:30 and did some homework. I finished up my crib sheet for my chem quiz and studied a little, and I worked on revising my biology group paper a little. I also began making a crib sheet and studying for my physics test which isn't until Friday. Go me! Maybe I can actually do well on this test. Probably not, but it's worth a try. I talked to my grandparents and sister, and then to my parents on the phone tonight. I got packages from both of them on Friday, with tons of Easter goodies. At about 8 tonight I gave up on homework and just messed around with my website and watched some TV. Now it's about time for bed. Tomorrow is Monday...ugh...but it is the last full week of classes for the semester! Wahoo!
4/19/03 10:38 pm Not much has happened in the past few days. Friday I went out to lunch with the girls from work study. We went to Ted's Fish Fry...it was an interesting experience. I'd never been before. I don't usually like fish, but it was pretty good. Friday afternoon Adrienne came from New York City to visit for the weekend (she's staying with Alison). After dinner we watched Friends, and then went to Ben and Jerry's. I got brownie batter...yum! Today I slept in and then did some homework. After dinner tonight Adrienne and Tim and I went to the RPI choir concert they were having at church (Alison couldn't go because she was sick). There was an Easter service and the choir sang, it was nice. Time to get to bed so I can get up early for church. Happy Easter!
4/17/03 9:51 pm Tim finally got back from Seattle last night! It is wonderful to have him back. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. Today was a long day. Although I didn't have my 4:00 class, so that was exciting. And I finished writing my methods of reasoning paper that's due Monday. I didn't really get any other work done though. Oh well. Tim and I got a pint of Ben and Jerry's tonight...Peanut Butter Me Up...I've never had it before, but it was very good. ER is not on tonight, so I guess I can get into bed early...so I can get up early and go to the gym to burn off all the junk food I ate today....
4/15/03 10:43 pm Today was uneventful. It was way too hot here today, about 85, and of course they don't have any of the air conditioning working on campus. At least the sun is shining and it is no longer winter. Tomorrow is going to be better, only about 70--I can handle that. I did have a strawberry smoothie for lunch, which was yummy. I got out of bio lab very early today, which was exciting. I began working on my methods of reasoning paper, which is due Monday. I really don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be writing, so this will be an interesting paper. At least I got some of it done. I talked to Tim again tonight. Today was his Microsoft intervew. He thinks it went well. He comes back tomorrow night, I can't wait, I miss him! Hopefully he'll bring me a good present. :-) Time to do some reading before bed.
4/14/03 10:04 pm I finally got my bio test back today, and I actually passed! I got a 78, which is better than I have done on the others, so I'm happy. I also got back the test that I handed in for a regrade, and I got 7 more points, so now I have a 70 on that test. I had a chem quiz today, it wasn't too bad. I think I did pretty well. Hopefully we'll get those back on Friday. Not much else happened today. We got out of methods of reasoning class an hour early, which was great. I had a meeting with my bio lab group tonight at 7 and we got our paper all squared away and ready to be handed in tomorrow. Other than that I didn't get much work done tonight, I was too tired. Tomorrow night will be devoted to working on my methods of reasoning paper and hopefully getting a good chunk of that done. I talked to Tim on the phone tonight, he left for his Microsoft interview in Seattle this morning. He made it there safely and with no complications. He comes back on Wednesday night. I guess that's all for now, time to get ready for bed so I can get up bright and early tomorrow and head to the gym.
4/12/03 10:32 pm Why does the weekend always go by so fast? Not much has happened since I last wrote. Last night I didn't get very much work done, which meant I had lots to do today. I tried to do my physics last night, but I didnt get very far. At around 8:00 pm the GM fireworks began. Tim and I had been planning to go and watch, but the weather wasn't very nice, so we didn't. However, we ended up being able to see them from Tim's window. They weren't the most spectacular fireworks I've ever seen, but it was still fun to see fireworks in April. Today I slept in very late (almost 11), so by the time I had eaten breakfast, it was already noon. I spent the rest of the afternoon doing work. At around 3:30, I went over to the library to do some research for our group biology paper. We have a meeting tomorrow afternoon because our paper is due on Tuesday, and we don't have anything done yet. After dinner I did some more work. I gave up at 8:00 and watched Trading Spaces. Now it's time for bed!
4/10/03 11:15 pm I didn't get my biology test back today! Ugh! We took the test a week ago, so I was expecting it back today, but he said we won't get them until Monday. Oh well. I probably don't want to know what I got anyway. My kanker sore is finally feeling better today, so I can start eating normal food again, instead of jello and ice cream. This week at RPI is GM week, where they hold all the elections for next years officers. I guess it is supposed to be a big exciting week, but I really didn't find it that spectacular. I did, however, get a free beer mug for voting in the primaries and again in the actual elections today. Free stuff is always exciting. I had an evil chemistry lab due tomorrow that made no sense and took me an eternity to do, but I think I finally got it written up and ready to hand in. Let's see...yesterday there were no classes, because of GM week, but I never have classes on Wednesdays anyway, so it wasn't all that exciting for me. I had to go into the bio lab in the morning and I was there for three hours. Then I had to go see my chem professor to get help with my lab, and then I went to work study for the afternoon. After that Tim and I went to Ben and Jerry's and got shakes, which was a happy ending to the day. Then I came back here and did laundry and homework and other various things. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, I'm exhausted. Time for bed!
4/8/03 9:34 pm Today was another uneventful day, just like any other Tuesday.
I don't feel very well, so that made the day drag along and kinda yucky. I have
a killer kanker sore on the end of my tongue, which makes normal daily activities
extremely painful. This is like the mother of all kanker sores. I know you probably
think I'm being a whimp, but let me tell those of you who don't get kanker sores,
you can not even begin to imagine the pain. I swear to god that I wasn't even
in this much pain when I broke my foot. It hurts to eat, drink, talk, swallow,
and it hurts to just sit here and do nothing! And since my mouth hurts so much,
it has caused me to clench my jaw, which has now given me a headache. Plus I am
getting a new kanker sore on the inside of my cheek. The one on my tongue has
been causing me agony since at least Friday. What a joyful five days it has been,
and I don't see an end in sight....when I have my biology degree I am going to
invent a cure for these horrible things so that nobody ever has to go through
this again! There, I think I'm done ranting now. The point of all that was that
today was a long, yucky day. I did however get a 10 out of 10 on the chem quiz
I took last week. But I can't do my chem lab that is due Friday, so I need to
go visit the professor tomorrow. And I did get out of bio lab early today, but
I need to go back in tomorrow morning. I want this stupid project to be over!
Nothing worth noting happened yesterday, either. I didn't get my biology test
back yet, but I did get out of my 4-6 class early, which was exciting. Well, I
guess I better get ready for bed now so I can get some sleep and hopefully feel
better tomorrow.
4/6/03 8:11 pm Stupid daylight savings time! Losing an hour of sleep is never fun. Hopefully I'll adjust soon. I had a fairly uneventful weekend. Yesterday Alison and I went out to lunch with Mother Anne (from church). We went to the Plum Blossom for chinese, and then to the bakery next door for dessert. It was wonderful! I got a regular conolli and a chocolate conolli. They were great. In the afternoon Alison, Tim, and I went to Wal Mart. I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening doing a little bit of homework and watching TV (I think I watch way too much TV). Today I got to pick my room for next year. My lottery number was 316 out of over 600, which isn't that great, so I didn't think I would get a very good room. We have one dorm that has suites, each suite has 6 single rooms, a common area, and a bathroom. I wanted a room in one of these suites, but they were all full (well, there was one space left, but it was on the fourth floor, and since there is no elevator, I decided to choose a different room). Anyway, I ended up getting 209 Davison Hall, which is the same dorm Tim is in, so I'll be one floor above him. Very exciting! I have also been working on some new sections of my webpage which will hopefully get posted soon. Time for American Dreams and Alias!
4/4/03 7:57 pm Classes were cancelled today!! It was very exciting. I got up at 8:30 and found out that classes were cancelled until noon, so I went back to bed, very excited, because my only class of the day is chemistry from 10-12. I got up at 10 and showered. At around 11 I went to lunch, picked up my pay check, and then found out that classes were cancelled for the rest of the day! That meant I didn't have to go to work study. So I went to the bio lab for a couple hours to get some stuff done for our project. I got back to my room around 2 and spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around not doing much. I did get my physics homework done before dinner though. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night working on my page. I'll try to get some more sections up soon. I'm kind of running out of ideas though, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to email me. Yesterday I registered for classes and got all the ones I wanted, which was nice. Well, the chem lab I wanted has been full for quite a while now, but I got my second choice. I'm taking organic chem, genetics and evolution, sports psychology, and introduction to logic. Oh, and all the ice and nasty weather we had today made the trees look very interesting, which is what the above picture is of. I decided to go outside and take some pictures after dinner. To see a few more of them, go to the Pictures page. Okay, I'm going to try to make my webpage more exciting now.
4/3/03 9:58 pm Once again, I didn't do any work on my webpage today. ER is about to begin so I'm going to make this pretty short. My bio test today was...well, I don't really know how it went. I will just have to wait until I get my grade. I managed to get my chemistry lab done this afternoon, so I didn't have to worry about doing it tonight. At 7 I had to go to a meeting for the Women at Rensselaer Mentor Program. I am going to be a mentor next year, so I had to go to a training session. I got back here around 8:30 and started watching TV and haven't done anything else since. Now I'm going to watch ER...it's a new one!!!!!!!! Wahoo!!!
4/2/03 10:54 pm Well, I didn't get very much time to work on my page today. I have a big bio test tomorrow that is going to kill me, so unfortunately, I had to spend my day studying for that. I did take a break in the afternoon to go do some work in the bio lab, if you can call that a break. I did get to sleep till 8 today though, that was exciting. Tomorrow I get to register for classes at 8 am. And then study some more before my test. Hopefully tomorrow night I will have some time to do some more work on my page. Comments, suggestions, and ideas are welcome, as the page is brand new and I don't really have anything on here yet. But keep in mind that I know a very small amount of html. And if I don't already have your webpage on my links page, let me know and I'll add it. Well, I've gotta go study for my test some more and then get some sleep. Goodnight!
4/1/03 3:44pm Welcome to my brand new webpage! It is still very much under construction, so you'll have to be patient. As of yesterday I knew absolutely NO html, so it's going to take me a while before I can really do anything, but I'm learning.
