Wilfrido Limvalencia (Lim-va-len-cia) is a self-taught artist whose paintings take the viewer on a wonderful, imaginative journey through folk scenes of people, pets, and landscapes.
He uses brilliant colours to create captivating scenes, sometimes with a sense of humor, that are delightful to view.

He has developed a style of painting by blending the look of naive art with realism.  The foreground subjects are painted in a more realistic fashion against a background with myriad of details in the naive style.  The result means viewers are transfixed looking at all the minute details that would not have been possible if painted in the more realistic style.  This artist, with a  hopeless penchant for details, has coined his style as
folk-realism.

After earning a degree in Business Administration, he managed his family's textile and apparel company for over 20 years.  At that time, he personally designed the infants and children's wear line, including the original prints, embroideries, and appliques, which were sold to private label programs of over a hundred department store chains in North America and Europe; in the USA such as Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Lord&Taylor, Dillard's, Abraham&Strauss, Strawbridge&Clothier's, The Bon Ton, and others.

Since he started painting in 2001, Wilfrido was accepted by jury into prestigious art competitions such as the 30th Anniversary of the IMAGO Foundation National Art Competition in Toronto, several U.S. Stamp Arts, B.C. Surrey's ARTS2000 series, and others.

He won
1st Place in The 2005 Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival Art Competition,
3rd Place in ARTS2007 of B.C. Surrey Art Council.
6th Place - w/Award of Meri
t in 2005/6 Wyoming Stamp Art,

3rd Plac

The artist and his work have been featured in the local TV shows, in various print publications, and reproduced in jigsaw puzzles, and other products.  In the short time he has been painting, a number of his works have found their way into the homes and offices of art lovers and collectors in North America.

He has done one-man shows at TheAmelia Douglas Art Gallery, The Plaskett Gallery, Tsawwassen Arts Centre, Gallery North, New Westminster Public Art Gallery, Vancouver East Cultural Center, The University Women's Club of Vancouver,  and other venues in Greater Vancouver.
