The concrete flowing these rolling hills will never compare to the soft crashing of the waves on the hard sand. Years were spent not far from the Gulf coast. The smell of the salty air was only minutes from my home. Dont get me wrong; Austin is beautiful. It sits on the brink of the Texas hill country and the western part of the city shows an incredible balance of natural landscape and cityscape.
Ive been here a while now These years have witnessed so much change. I have rarely lived in one place this long. When I arrived, I was nave and full of dreams. I took a part time job and a few classes at the local community college. My fianc was finishing his degree a few hours from me, but we could manage a long-distance relationship.
That was a long time ago. When I had to get a place of my own, I began working full time and did not have the flexibility to attend school. My fianc was long gone chasing one of his internet flings.
Well, life goes on. I met someone new and together we have built a life together over the last four years. We have a grand, beautifully furnished home, a little red sportscar, a black & silver pick-up truck and two tabby cats who are our babies. Ive watched my younger sister graduate high school and go off to college, meet a man and marry him. My city-bred parents have settled into a quaint little house on a few acres of land well out of a large community.
