My Boyfriend

I remember the first time I laid eyes on him...
I had just started working in the Y2K lab, preparing for the fatal crash the turn of the century would institute on the world. When I began testing for cross training, he was so preoccupied that he was rude to me. I wasn't quite sure what to make of him then.
A few days later, I waltzed into the first day of training two hours late (no one had informed me of the training) and proceeded to "take off his head" and steal his heart. I began to know a different person over the two week training course. By the time class concluded, I had memorized the way his voice cracked when he talked a long time, the way he pushed up his glasses when they started to slide as he read, the way he smiled when he flirted. . .
He threw a birthday party the next day for a roommate. The entire training class was invited. I think I went hoping to get to spend time with him. What began is something that I will remember for a lifetime.
We talked all night. The next day we walked to a nearby restaurant and I was secretly flattered when he signaled me to walk by the curb so I was away from any danger. He was so shy he barely ate anything. We spent the whole weekend watching movies and going out together.
Three years later, we are still together.
Albert, you have meant so much to me. Not only have you helped prepare me and better me for my job, but also you have been there for me when I needed a
friend . . . a confidant. This means so much more to me now than I think you could ever realize. I appreciate all you have done for me.
I love you.
