Quotes on pierced ears in slaves

On Earth I had thought little of earrings, yet now, in the Gorean setting, how exquisite and exciting they suddenly seemed. Perhaps then, for the first time, I truly began to sense how the Gorean views such things. Surely these things are symbolic as well as beautiful. The girl's lovely ears have been literally pierced; the penetrability of her sweet flesh is thus brazenly advertised upon her very body, a proclamation of her ready vulnerability, in incitement to male rapine. And when she wears the earring, he can see the metal disappearing in the softness of her ear, literally fixed within. her flesh is doubly penetrated her softness about the intruding metal, before his very eyes, The wire loop, too, or rod, when it emerges from the ear and, by one device or another, fastens the ring upon her, may suggest her bondage. Too, if the ring itself is closed, perhaps it suggests her susceptibility to the locked shackle, say, a wrist or slave bracelet; would there not, in the two rings, be one , so to speak, for each wrist? It is little wonder that Gorean free women never pierce their ear; it is little wonder that, in the beginning, it was only the lowest and most exciting of pleasure slaves who had their ears pierced; now, however, it is not uncommon on Gor for almost any pleasure slave to have her ears pierced; the custom of piercing the ears of a slave has now become relatively widespread: it had been done in Turia, of course, for generations. Too, of course, the ring is an obvious ornament. The girl place in it has thus been ornamented, Ornamentation is not inappropriate in a slave. Lastly, the ring is beautiful. Thus it makes the slave more beautiful.

"May I please have my ears pierce. Master", she begged. "Would you be so degraded a slave?" I asked. Ear piercing on Gor, is regarded in cost cities as the most degrading thing that can be done to a girl. It is commonly done only to the lowest of pleasure slaves. Compared to it, fixing a ring in a girl's nose is regarded lightly. Indeed, among the Tuchuk's one of the Wagon Peoples of Gor, even free women wore nose rings. these matters are cultural, of course. "Yes, Master." she said. "Why?' I asked. "That I might be kept always a slave." she said. "I see," I said. A girl with pierced ears on Gor might well, for all practical purposes give up even the slimmest of hopes, should she entertain them, of freedom. What Gorean man, seeing a woman with pierced ears, could treat her as, or accept her as, anything but a slave? "Please,Master," she said"I will have it done in Schendi," I said. Usually a leather worker pierces ears. In Schendi there were many leather workers, usually engaged in the tooling of kailiauk hide, brought from the interior.

I knelt on the low wooden platform, while one of the leather workers, with a long needle, approached my face. "See," said Targo, to the other girls, "El-in-or is brave." Many of them were whimpering 1 closed my eyes. No anesthetic was used, for I was a slave, but it was not particularly painful. It was said to be a Turian custom, from the far south, Which was spreading north. The leather worker then went to the other side of the platform. There were tears in my eyes, for my eyes smarted. I felt the second pain, sharp, followed by an unpleasant burning sensation The leather worker stood up. My ears had been pierced. The girls, in line, kneeling cried out, Whimpering and shuddering. Guards stood on either side of the line. 'See how brave Elinor is," said Targo. The leather worker wiped away the bit of blood with a cloth. He then fixed two tiny steel rods, with threaded ends, through the wounds To each end of each of the rods he threaded a tiny steel disk, that the tiny rods might be held in the Wounds. The disks and rods would be removed in four days. "Next," he said. None of the girls moved. I left the platform.

"The piercing of the ears of women, only of slave girls, of course, was a custom of distant Turia, famed for its wealth and its nine great gates...."

"The piercing of the ears is far more terrible," said Ute. "Nose rings are nothing. They are even pretty. In the south even the free women of the Wagon Peoples wear nose rings." She held me more closely. "Even free women in the south," she insisted, "the free women of the Wagons Peoples, wear nose rings." She kissed me. "Besides," she said, "it may be removed, and no one will ever know that you wore it. It will not show." Then Ute's eyes clouded with tears. I looked at the tiny steel rods holding open the wounds in her ears. "But only slave girls," she wept, "have their ears pierced." She wept. "How can I ever hope to become a Free Companion," she wept. "What man would want a woman with the pierced ears of a slave girl? And if I were not veiled, anyone might look upon me, and laugh, and scorn me, seeing that my ears have been pierced, as those of a slave girl!"

We knelt in a circle, eating from the wooden bowls of bread and stew. We were given no utensils. Our fingers served to pick out meat and bread, and the gravy we drank. The girls chatted, and most seemed to have forgotten the ordeal of the morning. If they had not forgotten it, there was very little they could do about it. Further, they knew that with their ears pierced they might bring a somewhat higher price, and thus , perhaps, obtain a somewhat better fixed master. Some prudish slavers scandalized by ear piercings, refused to have it done to their girls, but Targo , doubtless because of the gold involved had insisted upon it. Many Gorean men apparently find pierced ear girls extremely provocative.

"The material for securing ten women, in such cases, fits into a corner of the warrior's pack and weighs no more than a few ounces. If the cities are long time, hereditary enemies snap-lock, or pronged, tension closed, earrings might be used instead of nose-rings, as a gesture of contempt, a pierced ear, or ears, on Gor, culturally, commonly, being regarded as the mark of the lowest, the most sensuous and the most despicable of slaves. To be perfectly honest, however, ear piercing for Gorean slaves is now much more common that it was a few years ago. Perhaps the time will come when the slave will be a rarity who has not felt the two thrusts of the leather worker's needle. the growing provenances of ear piercing probably has to do, a least significantly, with its tendency to stimulate the sexual aggression of the Gorean male. Accordingly, girls with pierced ears, "pierced-ear girls," tend to bring higher prices in the markets. Slavers thus, prior to putting their properties on the block, are more and more inclined to have this done to them. Some girls, knowing how desirable this can make them, beg their master to have their ears pierced. the piercing of the ears is not only symbolic and aesthetic to the master and slave but it can be tactually arousing, as well, playing with the earring, the girl feeling it brush the side of her cheek or neck, and so on. sometimes, however the free woman in a captured city is not, say, simply stripped, thrown down and tied, later to be turned over to an iron master for the searing kiss of his white hot metal. Sometimes, rather she tripped, and presented before officers, is offered the choice between swift honorable decapitation and slavery. If she chooses slavery she may be expected to step onto a submission mat, and kneel there, head down, enter a slave pen of her own accord, or say, fully acknowledging herself a slave, belly to an officer kissing his feet."

They are slaves. They will remain slaves. Too, they are branded, which further makes escape for almost all practical purposes, an impossibility for them. Interestingly, ear piercing, too, can make it difficult for an escaped girl to elude detection. Ear piercing interestingly from an Earth point of view is regarded by most Gorean women, slave and free, as more degrading than the brand. Slave girls native to Gor, dread it terribly, perhaps because it is so visible, the piercing of their flesh being so fragrantly erotic: what man would even think of freeing them if they had pierced ears? They beg their Masters not to pierce their ears. Their pleas, those of slave girls are commonly ignored. Their ears are pierced. Afterwards, it might be mentioned, they are usually pleased with the piercing of their ears, and are quite proud of this erotic dimension added to their beauty: not displeased are they either with the lovely adornments which their Masters may now order them to fix upon their body.: free women it is no secret, in many respects envy their enslaved sisters, their beauty, their joy, their attractiveness to men; this may explain why free women are often very cruel to slave girls; most imbonded girls fear greatly that they might be purchased by one of the dreaded free women. I have wondered if free women on Gor might be happier if their culture permitted them to be somewhat more like the slave girls they so heartily despise. It seems a small enough thing that a free woman might be culturally permitted to have her ears pierced and thus be permitted earrings. Would it make so much difference? But the bonds of culture are strong. On Earth a free woman would not consider having herself branded though it might improve her beauty; similarly on Gor a free woman would not consider having her ears pierced. Among slave girls, however, ear piercing inflicted upon them by the will of their masters is becoming widespread on Gor; one might say it is gaining considerable popularity among masters which accounts of course for its growing frequency in the female slave population of the planet; it is a custom which derives,I am told from the city of Turia, which lies in Gors southern hemisphere, an important manufacturing and trading center. A girl with pierced ears is of course either a slave or a former slave. If she is a former slave, her papers or manumission had best be in perfect order. More than one freed woman, because of pierced ears, has found herself again on the block, again reduced by strong men to the helpless state of bondage.

I looked at her ears. They had not been pierced. I had never known a female agent of Kurii who had been brought to Gor with pierced ears. That was no accident, of course. Pierced ears in a girl mean to a Gorean that she is a slave among slaves. I looked at her. If I owned her I would have her ears pierced. That would be sufficient guarantee, on Gor, that she would always be kept in a collar.
She opened her knees, slightly, before me, as she knelt. This was done unconsciously. What a naive slave she was, doubtless still priding herself on her freedom.
Some Earth girls, of course, brought to Gor as slaves, as lovely meat for the flesh markets, did have their ears pierced. Some of them did not learn for months why it was that they were treated with a roughness and contempt far beyond that of their imbonded sisters, subjected to a harsher authority and put beneath the rudest predations of a masters lust. And yet the answer was simple. They were pierced-ear girls. It is said that the ear piercing of slaves, on Gor, originated in Turia. Certainly it was practiced there. After the fall of Turia the custom spread northward. It is now relatively common on Gor, for pleasure slaves. Slavers have discovered that a pierced-ear girl commands a higher price.

To Gorean eyes, the piercing of the ears, this visible set of wounds, inflicted to facilitate the mounting sensual and barbaric ornamentations, is customarily regarded as being tantamount, for most practical purposes, to a sentence of irrevocable bondage. Normally ear-piercing is done only to the lowest and most sensuous of slaves..They also have a role to play in her arousal. The brushing of The brushing of the sides of the girl's neck by the dangling ornament is, in itself, a delicate stimulation of a sensitive area of her body, the sides of her neck beneath the ears; this area is quite sensitive to light touches; if the earring is of more than one piece, the tiny sounds made by it, too, can also be stimulatory; accordingly, the earring's feel and movement, and caress, and sometimes sound, persistent, subtle and sensual, functioning on both a conscious and subliminal level, can often bring a female to, and often keep her indefinitely in, a state of incipient sexual readiness.
