Free Persons are Healers, they have the full rights and privileges of Caste, a slave is NOT a Healer. While some slaves can do some healing, they are not members of the Caste, they do not wear Healer or Healing name on their tags and they do not take precedence over a Healer in treating someone who is sick or injured. A slave may do some things if a Healer is not available, but will relinquish the patient to the Healer and REMAIN attentive to assist as needed. This is the same for all in Gor, slaves brought to assist in treatment will stand aside and assist a Healer.
At no time will a Healer be told that a slave will treat a patient over them. While the physicians caste existed in the civilized cities, in wagon camps and more crude regions of Gor the healers would be closer to herbalists. In the camps of Outlaws, where no cast or clan structure existed, healing would be taken care of by slaves. We do not have a healer at NordFjord at this time. It is up to us to learn all we can because it very well may save a life. Medicine and healing of Gor was not portrayed in great detail in the scrolls. Some items were casually mentioned: capture scent, emetics, honey, laxatives, tassa powder, teslik, serums, balms, salves, brak bush, various colored but nameless powders, physicians tape and bandages.
