Agrimony- leaves of the herb possess antibiotic qualities. As a gargle it is beneficial in sore throats and laryngitis. Applied topically, agrimony promotes the healing of wounds and bruises

Allium -(garlic) its oils are effective against both Gram-positive bacteria (such as staphylococcal and streptococcal infections), most effective in lowering elevated blood sugar levels as well as moderating high blood pressure; the oil penetrates skin readily and moves through the bloodstream quickly

Bergamot -Leaves are used for itching and rashes, leaves make a soothing aromatic tea

Blackwine- Blackwine, too has medicinal qualities, evidenced by the fondness for Gorean blackwine (strong coffee prepared like espresso). Even simply the aroma of coffee may have anti-oxidant properties, leading to longer life for cells. Coffee is a strong stimulant and diuretic, and the frequent user can develop a tolerance effect to higher doses.

"The unmistakable odor of coffee, or as the Goreans express it, black wine. The beans grow largely on the slopes of the Thentis mountains. The original beans, I suppose, had been brought, like certain other Gorean products, from Earth"

Blue Short Grass- a powder made of this grass, when dried and crushed is used as an analgesic It grows beneath the water of the falls in the Voltai Mountains when dried and crushed, it has numbing qualities. The powder aids in comfort and pain.

"At the edge of the Thentis Mountains, in the driest areas, the grass is short. As one moves in an easterly direction it becomes taller, ranging generally from ten to eighteen inches in height; as one moves even further east it can attain a height of several feet, reaching as high as the knees of a man riding a kaiila. On foot, it is easier to become lost in such grass than in the northern forests.

Brak Bush- a shrub whose leaves have a purgatory effect when chewed. In large doses, the leaves will induce vomiting. When taken as tea, brak bush acts as a laxative and systemic cleanser. In some towns and cities branches of brak bush are nailed to house doors during the Waiting Hand to discourage the entry of bad luck into the house for the New Year

Breeding wine/second wine- given to slave girls to make them fertile again, it counteracts slave wine, the active ingredient being Teslik

"In the concentrated state, as in slave wine, developed by the caste of physicians, the effect is almost indefinite, usually requiring a releaser for its remission, usually administered to a slave in what is called breeding wine, or "second wine." When this is administered she usually knows that she has been selected for crossing with a handsome male slave.

Capture Scent -Chloroform equivalent will render a person unconscious when inhaled.

"She opened her eyes, and shook her head. What is this? she said. Capture scent, I said."..."Shall I hold again the vial beneath her nose? I asked. Soaked in a rag and scarf and held over the nose and mouth of a female it can render her unconscious in five Ihn. She squirmed wildly for an Ihn or two, and then sluggishly, and then falls limp. It is sometimes used by tarnsmen; it is often used by slavers. Anesthetic dart, too are sometimes used in the taking of female; these maybe flung, or entered into the body by hand; they take effect in about fourty Ihn; she awakens often, in a slave kennel."

Chamomile- a flower that is dried and then brewed into a tea for stomach upset and pain , also may be used as a mild sedative as it has a slight calming and relaxing effect

Cloves- flower buds are the parts that are used. The essential oil was once primarily used as a dental anesthetic (the active component is called eugenol) Use 3-4 cloves per cup of boiling water, steep and then strain. The infusion is a powerful anti-nausea treatment and the cooled infusion may be used as a mouthwash to quell the pain of canker sores and fever blisters, as well as over the skin for light sunburn

Frobicain- Is a sedative injection used during Voyages of Acquisition to render a captured barbarian unconscious

"They seem very quiet," I observed.'We permit them," said Flaminius, deigning to offer a bit of explanation, "five Ahn of varied responses, depending on when they recover from the frobicain injection. Mostly this takes the form of hysterical weeping, threats, demands for explanation, screaming and such. They will also be allowed to express their distress for certain periods at stated times in the future."

Green tea- (Gorean Bazi tea), is uncured tea and has antimicrobial, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects. Green tea is often used as a mouthwash when cooled to decrease the swelling of periodontal disease.

"Tea is extremely important to the nomads. It is served hot and heavily sugared. It gives them strength then, in virtue of the sugar, and cools them, by making them sweat as well as stimulating them. It is drunk three small cups at a time, carefully measured."

Healing Ointment
"The ointment will soon be absorbed, she said. "In a few minutes there will be no trace of it nor of the cuts." The Physicians of Treve, I said, have marvelous medicines. It is an ointment of Priest Kings, she said."

I said nothing. Bring salve, he said. An ointment was brought, and he smeared it across the two cuts. It was odorless. To my surprise it seemed to be absorbed almost immediately. You must be careful, he said. Again I said nothing. You might have marked yourself, he said, or might have been blinded. He returned the ointment to another man. They are superficial, he told me, and will heal without trace."

Hemp- used like Earthen Dopamine to increase blood pressure

Honey- applied to wounds to help and promote healing

"I saw small fruit trees, and hives, where honey bees were raised; and there were small sheds, here and there, with sloping roofs of boards; in some such sheds might craftsmen work, in others fish might be dried or butter made."

Kanda- A shrub of the Gorean desert; a lethal poison can be extracted from its roots, while chewing the leaves has an addictive narcotic effect. Rolled leaves, chewed for pain relief, just DO NOT swallow them

"Kutaituchik absently reached into a small golden box near his right knee and drew out a string of rolled kanda leaf. The roots of the kanda plant, which grows largely in desert regions on Gor, are extremely toxic, but, surprisingly, the rolled leaves of this plant, which are relatively innocuous, are formed into strings and, chewed or sucked, are much favored by many Goreans"

Kalana root- steeped in water and used to cleanse wounds

Lavenia- Infusion:To be taken internally, pour a cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoon of the dried herb flowers and leave to infuse for 10mins.Then 1-3 ml to be taken by mouth for pain. May be used topically in salve medium.

Matchweed- an anticoagulant

Mudpacks- are used when healing sprains, soft tissue trauma and reduce swelling and pain

Peppermint- used to fight off infection and aid in the easement of nausea, headache and cold symptoms.Is also a mild stimulant and aids in concentration.

"A bitter root whose extract is the active ingredient in slave wine. Red Savages make their slaves chew as a means of birth control"

Sleeping Powder- an amber powder - add water and shake, turns a dark blue (( A tranquilizer other than tassa powder ))

"Kamchak said nothing, but then he got up and from a chest in the wagon he took forth a goblet and filled it with an amber fluid, which he shook a dark, bluish powder. He then took Elizabeth Cardwel in his left arm and with his right hand gave her the drink. Her eyes were frightened, but she drank. In a few moments she was asleep."

Tassa Powder- A reddish powder usually mixed with red wine which renders the consumer unconscious.

"I had been forced, sitting in the courtyard, my head back and nose held, to swallow a draft of water, into which a reddish powder had been mixed. I had shortly thereafter lost consciousness." .... "In the courtyard below, I said, I was drugged. It was done by tassa powder, she said. It was tasteless, and effective, I said. Slavers sometimes use it, she said. It is well for a girl not to drink with a strange man, she laughed. It shows up, of course, I said, in water. It is meant to be mixed with red wine, she said.

Valerian- Rhizome, Stolons and Roots 1 teaspoon of the dried herb and 1/2 cup water infuse for 10 min. This one is most widely used.
Mb>Tincture:1/2 to 1 teaspoon is given and indeed up to 2 teaspoons at one time.
(Note: This is a very strong sedative, use it with care)

White Sage- leaves of the plant are used to help fight infection

Willow Bark- Parts of this tree are used for pain relief, the bark is chewed, while the leaves and buds are brewed as tea

Yellow powder- It is concentrated brak brush. Used as a laxative, causes diarrhea.

Zingiber- a tea is used for nausea
