Came to Mercer Co. Ky with her children about 1816, (Widowed?)Birth date, birthplace and place of death were obtained from the Mercer Co.,, Kentucky vital statistics. She was a widow and died of consumption at the age of 82.
Sarah's marriage record was obtained from the Orange Co.,,Virginia Marriage bond .Bondsmen: James Yates and Abner Newman,$10; James Yates to Sally Sanford, Spinster. Wit: James Taylor.Consent says, "I grant James Yates license of marriage with me. Sally Sanford, Jan 24,1798; Wit: James Sanford, Rueben Sanford" Not definit proof that they were Polly Yates' parents. Orange Co.,, Marriages reg.,p. 49, records marriage as 29 Jan 1799. Because both the bond and the consent were dated 1798, I believe this to be the correct year.It is sepculative but probable that Sarah Sanford is the mother of William C. Yates.

"John Poulter moved to Mercer Co., Ky. approx. 1793 with his family and friends the Ransdells. Following the settlement of the Poulter estate other Poulters, Ransdells, and probably Sarah Yates left Culpeper for Mercer Co., Ky.
They are not noted in Ky. until the 1820 census. . .Sarah Yates' youngest child was seven years old when they arrived fatherless in Harrodsburg, Mercer Co., Ky."
