William Hamilton Sweenie arrived in Boston, Massachusetts 13 September 1909. The ship he came on was the "Nimidian", departed from Glasgow Scotland (Information taken from his Intention to Naturalize, dated 17 Mar 1917)and went to work in the fabric mills in Manchester, NH. His wife, Margaret, and oldest son, my grandfather, James H.L. Sweenie arrived in 1910. They resided at 79 State Street, Manchester, NH in 1917 and 6 Payson Street, Manchester, NH in 1920. They received their Naturalization on 10 Jun 1920. William, Margaret and two youngest sons moved to Chicago, Illinois sometime before 1928. James married and resided in Andover, NH. In 1930, the family was living in Chicago, IL. Sometime in the early to mid-1950's Grampa and Grammie moved to Maryland where he died.

According to these sources, John Sweenie was the illegitimate son of Agnes Burns who named John Sweenie, a "canal boatman" as the father. John also had a first wife, Grace/Grizzel Sorbie, whom he married on January 19, 1833 in Stonehouse, Avondale, Lanark, Scotland. John Sweenie died January 8, 1878 in Tradeston, Lanark, Scotland.
