Dianne Christensen Simister

Dianne and daughter, Judy

Dianne has done a tremendous job in successfully raising our three children and being a good companion over these past many years. Dianne takes pride in her family and keeping us all up-to-date with family news and changes. She enjoys family get-togethers, cooking, and walking.

She is a graduate of LDS Business College. She has always taken strong interest in her children, dedicating much of her life to their development and growth.

Dora Simister Anderson

Dora Anderson at Washington School, day of recital for her students

My mother teaches private piano lessons and has taught piano as a volunteer at the Washington Elementary School here in Salt Lake during 1996 and 1997. She has identified that the best way to learn music is through a "natural" approach wherein one first learns to listen and play, bypassing the traditiional "note reading" until the student is ready. Although now 91 years old, her enthusiasm has not diminished.

She has one sister, Lucille, who also lives here in Salt Lake City with her husband, Boyd.. Mother has served as church organist for several organizations. She has also acted as church organist in her own religion, the LDS, Mormon Church over much of her life. Also, she has successfully owned and managed several rental properties. Most important, her many privately taught piano students will serve tribute to her lifetime of work with music. Many of those students are now successful in their own lives.

In memory of dad... Ralph W. Simister

Dad was a talented artist, at one time running a sign painting school and sign shop, Ace Signs, in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City. He was also good at cartooning and stage scenery design. Using his carpentry skills, he finished off a basement in our home at 1940 Westminster Avenue in Salt Lake City. Over his life, he worked as a draftsman and skilled machine tool grinder. His hobby was making home movies with both 16mm and 8mm film. He was the youngest of the six children of John Henry Simister and Sarah Crandall. His brothers were John and Ray. Sisters were Estelle, Tense, and Suzie.

Dad will be remembered for his intelligent thinking, wit, and wisdom.
