Red Devil
Cichlasoma Labiatum, Heros Labiatus, Cichlasoma Erythraeum, Cichlasoma Lobochilus
This is one of the more aggreessive and territorial cichlids. Red Devils are from Nicaragua, Managua, and Xiloa. The males of this species are larger than the females, but the best way to sex them is to examine their genetalia. The male's will be pointed and the females blunt. The method of breeding for this fish is Open/Cave spawner. A tank of at least 80 gallons is reccommended. These fish are excellent and dedicated diggers so live plants are not reccommended, and any rockwork, which is appreciated, should be secure enough not to fall and crush the fish or break the aquarium. The average adult length of this fish is 9-10". The temperature should be somewhere from 75-79F, and the pH from 7.0-8.0.
