A frontosa is an African cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. They are usually only aggressive towards things that fit in their mouths, and although they do prefer a diet of small fish, they will eat anything. Their bodies are very high and laterally compressed. They have six black stripes that go up and down on their bodies. The males develop a really cool lump on their foreheads when they get older. Their colors are also very pretty. These fish get to be up to 12 inches long, and because of their size they need a large number of hiding spots. Their tank should have a sandy bottom. The water temperature must be above 20 degrees C.
