This fish is from Guatemala, Yucatan. These fish are really cool, because of their great color. They develop a very deep red as they get older. The female's colors aren't as bright. The females also have dorsal fins that are more rounded than the males. These fish are very aggressive and often attack fish that are larger than they are, but their incredible colors make up for this. They breed at 4 inches and are about 5 inches when they are full grown. these fish require a rather large tank (30+ gallons are reccomended). There tank temperature should be 70-75F (21-24C), and the pH should be 7.0 (optimum for breeding).
